Emma sobbed as the young boy's head rested on her knees. His face looked the same as is did before he was killed. However, the color was slowly draining from his face. His eyes were still open and his brown orbs look past her to the sky. Blood trickled down his body from where the antlers entered him down to Emma's legs. She felt sick and debilitating guilt ran through her chest.

"I'm so so sorry." She said over and over again as the tears ran down her face on to the boy's. She fixed his eyelids to be shut and rocked them back and forth. Jack, who was innocent was now dead because of her pride and stubbornness.

"Emma!" A voice called out to her. But, to her, it was all background noise. "Emma." the voice was now closer.

"Oh, Emma." She felt a hand on her shoulder.

"It's going to be ok," Zane said as he knelt down beside her and rubbed her arms. Howls and grunts of the fight that was now moving closer to them.

"We have to get out of here," Zane said as he pulled Emma up.

"No! I can't just leave him. I did this to him." She said to Zane that was pushing her to go.

"Fine, I will carry him. So lets go." Zane saw the whole thing but, when Jack was killed he was being attacked by another Deer. He just had time to save Emma.

He put the boy on her shoulder and started walking. Emma stood there looking at him.

"You're hurting him." She whispered. Zane sighed and readjusted the boy so he was carrying him as you would carry a child. Then with his hand still under the boy, he grabbed her hand.

Hand in hand Zane pulled Emma through the forest. She lazy stumbled through the forest, slowing them down big time.

"Come on Emma. I know that someone that has died from your actions and it's painful and hard. Trust me I do." He sighed. He did not want to talk about his parent's death but, Emma had quickened her pace as he talked.

"My parents... They died because of me and if you asked Zack he would deny this but, it's true." Tears stung his eyes and his grip on the boy tightened.

"I have never talked about this since their death. I was out with Sandra in a field not far from our house. It was a beautiful day and everyone else was training. But, me being me I had skipped training like I always did. I was never good at it anyway and at the time, I didn't see the harm in skipping. But, then..." He got choked up and his throat started to sting as he held back his tears.

"Rouges. They... They were unlike the ones in Jordan's pack. They were vicious and killed to kill. I couldn't fight cause I didn't know how and I had gotten badly hurt trying to protect Sandra. Then... Then my mother came out of the house to help and ended up getting killed. They ripped her to shreds. My father... He felt it. The bond break." Zane was now crying. tears ran down his face as the where almost at a running pace.

"He came out killed about half before they got him too. But, by the time the rest of the pack showed up they were already dead. So I do understand and this is why I need to get you out of here so you won't end up killed because I didn't listen." He finished.

"I'm sorry." Was all she said to him. The kept running to the edge of the forest. After some time of running, they found a road that they followed out. Zane knew the camp was not far from the road. But, they sat and rested from their long run. He placed the boy gently down on the ground behind them so Emma did not have to see him.

"Emma ?" Zane asked to try to gain her attention. But, she was off in space. Just staring at the sky. It was clear to see that she was still beating herself up and was thinking really hard about it. She would not respond to anything.

All she could think of is the boy face dead on her lap and the blood pooling around her. "Coda?" was all she said.

"He is still in the fight," Zane said. "I'm going to bury the boy overhear. He pointed at a maple tree not far from them. The leaves were bright green.

"Ok" Emma agreed. Zane shifted and started to dig a hole large enough for the boy. Then he put the boy in gently. Emma walked over before he was covered with dirt.

"I'm sorry that you have to die so young for me. I'm sorry that couldn't help you and I'm sorry that you are not surrounded by loved ones. You where a great warrior and I will be forever grateful to you for saving my life." Emma finished saying as tears ran down her face. She fell to the ground as Zane started covering him up.

They when back to sit by the street as Emma recovered from her crying session. Her face was still tear-stained and eyes were puffy.

A car drove by as they were getting ready to leave.

"Emma?" A voice called from the car. She looked up to see Odette.

"What's going on?" She said as she got out of the driver's seat of the car and walked up to Emma.

"Are you ok?" She asked as she walked up to Emma and saw her tears.

Zane growled at her as she came closer. "Don't you know that there is a war going on right now?" He yelled back making her step back in fear.

"I didn't... Kaden!" she yelled before she got back into her car and drove off as fast as she could.

"Who was..." Zane said but, stop when saw Emma on the ground in pain holding her arm.
