It had been a week since Emma had left Coda. The days seem to be lonely and drag on forever. Coda spent the nights staring at the stars or watching the patrol guards, writing down their every move.

Now, he finally has everything he needed to put his plan into motion.

Coda, with the help of the scouts and Jack, the fox boy, had mapped out the whole of the outer ring of Kaden's territory. All the way from the west, where both Zane and Zack will start a fight with some of the day-time guards, to the east.

They also learn the border routes and rotations and there is a ten-minute window at 8 am when a rotation of guards take place. So Coda and a small team of rouges can make their way through.

Today is the day before the attack and Coda is finishing the final touches to the plan. But, he can't focus. He is so close to getting Emma back that nothing he tries to do makes any sense.

He fiddled with his nails as he scribbled more notes down.

"Hey boss," Jack said as he walked up behind Coda. "What's up?"

Coda just shrugged him off and kept writing not wanting to talk to the brat that has been annoying him all week.

"Jack stop bugging Coda and go do something useful for once, you little bugger," Zack said as he rubbed his fist on the boy's head causing him to cringe.

"Stopped!" he whined, fixing his hair with his right hand.

"Zack, where is Zane? I need to go through the plan one more time with both of you," Coda stated as he rubbed out what he had just written.

"He walked to the closest town with some rouges to call Sandra once more before tomorrow. You know since we could possibly die," He said harshly. "And have we not went over the plan enough?"

"I just...," Coda stated before he was cut off by Zack.

"No. No more 'but I just made a revision and we need to go over twelve times Zack'. I'm tired and I just want one more free day." He whined.

"Fine," Coda responded, turning away.

The crunch of sticks told Coda that at least one of them have gone.

"Coda," Jack voice called out. "I don't really want to die." He said as he sat down beside the standing Coda.

The leaves are decaying on the forest floor. It gives an all most sweet smell to it.

"Because," he started again. "I want to spend more time with you, Zane, Zack, and Emma."

Jack smiled up at Coda. His teeth not white nor straight giving a more quirky look as his bright orange hair fell in front of his eyes.

Coda sigh.

"Well dying is a possibility, you know?" He said while sitting next to the small boy. "I can't guaranty your safety and my only mission is to get Emma." His voice was cold and unfeeling.

"Yeah, I know. I just..." Jack started. "This past week has been fun, besides Emma being gone. I feel like I have a family and I don't want that to end."

"Me either bud," Coda said while going the boy a small smile. This boy has been the only one to really keep Coda's mood somewhat up and has made him smile every so often.

Jack turned as someone called for him.

"Well, I got to go. See you later," he said running off with a smile.

The next day

The twins are making their way to the other side of the territory where the distraction will take place. They plan on sneaking as far as they can to the herd house as they can to cause the majority of the guards to get distracted the closer they are to the house and Coda can get Emma.
