Chapter 1 - The Day Before
THIRD PERSON
"And the victory goes to Ash Ketchum of Pallet Town!"
The crowd of the Lumiose Conference erupted into massive cheers after witnessing Ash's semifinal battle with Sawyer. The applause was almost deafening.
Both Ash and Greninja simultaneously dropped to the ground, as the Ninja Pokemon reverted back to its normal form, completely exhausted from the battle. The pair were heavily breathing, trying to grasp oxygen. The intensity of the battle couldn't have got any higher. It was one true battle between rivals.
"We did it Greninja! We're going into the finals!" Ash stated.
"Gre!" Greninja replied, giving its trainer a thumbs up.
Meanwhile, up on the stands, the whole gang was jumping for joy after witnessing their friend's well-fought victory. Serena was the most excited out of all of them, evident from her heart, racing at unimaginable rates.
"He won! He won!" Serena excitedly screamed, gripping Bonnie into a tight hug. The young lemon-haired girl was also extremely happy for Ash, but she could feel Serena's excitement. Bonnie knew Serena's exhilaration exceeded everyone else's. It was blatantly obvious. And she knew the reason why.
As Serena released Bonnie, she jerked her body back to the stadium, while her heart was still zooming at high speeds. Trying to calm down, the honey-blonde gripped her blue ribbon, thinking back to the first time Ash battled Wulfric. Those Ashs were complete opposites.
Back at the stadium, the two competitors of Ash and Sawyer walked to the middle. Their eyes made contact. Both of their hearts were rapidly beating. The two locked their gazes for a few more seconds before Ash spoke, "Sawyer."
"Ash..." Ash extended his arm, placing a huge grin on the green-haired boy's face as Sawyer excitedly took the hand.
"Let's have another battle one day," Ash stated to Sawyer's delight. Upon hearing Ash's statement, Sawyer's eyes began to well up from tears of joy. Shaking the cheerful tears away, Sawyer firmly strengthened his grip.
"You're on, Ash."
Somewhere in the entrances, Alain was leaning against the wall, having just viewed the whole of Ash's superb battle.
"That's what I expected. I'll be looking forward to our promised rematch, Ash," Alain muttered under his breath. After staring in the direction of the field for a bit longer, he swung his body around, flicking his scarf around and headed off.
Elsewhere, in the stands, the disguised Team Rocket trio were completely baffled by the battle they'd just seen. It exceeded their expectations, by miles.
"You know, I think the twerp has it in him to win the whole thing," Jessie stated.
"I think so, too," James affirmed.
"I think so, three," Meowth added.
"Wobbu!" Wobbuffet cried, doing its signature pose as it appeared under Meowth's disguise.
---
Straight after the battle, Ash rushed himself to the Pokemon Centre with his knocked-out Pokemon consuming his thoughts. "They fought hard. Thank you." Ash thought to himself, while still running towards the Pokemon Centre. He never crossed any thoughts about his friends, following the battle, nor did he pay attention to the time. But luckily enough, the gang agreed to make the Pokemon Centre a rendezvous point. However, the sun was starting the process of setting, reflecting its beautiful rays off the glistening blue ocean.
