CHAPTER 12 - The 'Date'

THIRD PERSON

The late morning of Kalos had arrived the next day; the day after Ash's victory in the Kalos League. Flocks of Fletching were chirping about, waking the residents of Lumiose City. The city was hustling and bustling with people preparing and going to work, and with people on daily walks with their Furfrous. It was just another normal day in the central city of the Kalos region. There was one exception, however. News reporters and camera crews were right outside of Ash's cabin. They were eager to interview, or at least, get a few words from the newest Kalos League title holder. Unfortunately for them, Ash was still sound asleep. He usually didn't sleep in, but since there was not much on the agenda for the day, he took advantage of this.

In Ash's room, Gary suddenly came bursting through the room, smashing the door wide open. "Oi! Ketchum! Wake up! Go get some breakfast and let's go!"

Ash's dream was abruptly interrupted by the yelling voice, making the start of his day miserable. Feeling annoyed, he tightly pulled the blanket over his head in hopes of blocking the loudness that came from Gary. The plan horribly failed as Gary walked over and forcibly yanked the blanket off the bed. The cold air suddenly swept through Ash's body, giving him the spine-tingling and shivering feeling when a sudden drop in temperaturep occurs. Feeling even more irritated than he was before, Ash rolled over his bed and planted his face in the pillow.

"I won't ask you again. Get. Out. Of. Bed," Gary demanded Ash, knowing if he didn't follow the orders, he would receive a special shock from a special Pokemon. Ash slightly craned his neck with one eye open to see the figure of Gary, overshadowing him.

"Let me sleep for a bit longer. It's not everyday that I get to sleep in after winning a League," Ash contested, shifting his head back into the pillow. Finally feeling fed up, Gary smirked. "If you say so."

A feeling of relief came to Ash, thinking Gary would leave and stop bothering him. This feeling was soon ended as Gary said, "Now, Pikachu. If you please."

Pikachu's trainer instantly shot both eyes wide open and jumped from
the bed, realising what would happen next. "No, no, n- ARGHhhHhHhhHhhHhhHH" The sensation of Pikachu's wake-up-Thunderbolt fried the sleepiness and drowsiness out of Ash's body.

"I-I'm a-awake," the raven-haired trainer stumbled, weakly dropping to the floor with a charred face and burn-stained clothes as Pikachu fell to he ground, rolling in laughter.

"That should teach you next time. Hurry up and get changed, then go get breakfast so we can get going," Gary said to Ash's curiosity.

"What are you talking about? Where are we going today?" Ash rubbed the back of his messy bedhead and lazily looked at his surroundings.

"Well... How to explain this... I kind of saw and heard what happened last night between you and Serena," Gary admitted. Ash immediately jerked his head towards the boy in front of him as a mad blush started to become visible on his cheeks.

"Y-you mean y-you were e-eavesdropping?"

"Well, more like watching the whole thing. But yeah, what of it? It was cute," Gary chuckled, making Ash's tinted cheeks more apparent.

"Wait... Does that mean you saw the...?" Ash trailed off in hopes of Gary would decline.

"Yup, I saw the kiss. Right from the beginning, to the very end. Brock was there too." Ash's jaw dropped like a dead fly.

"Wait, that didn't answer my original question. Where are we going today?" Ash asked again.

"We're going to pick out clothes for your date today! Just Brock, you and I. And also, peek outside the window," he replied. Wondering what Gary meant by that, Ash got up from the floor and walked over to the window, sliding the curtains just so he could see out of it. A gasp came out from his mouth after seeing what was to come.
