CHAPTER 3 - The League Showdown
THIRD PERSON
"Are you ready?" Clemont questioned. The group was situated inside the room provided for finalists by the League Comittee. Ash looked from Clemont to his Pokemon and back. He knew that he couldn't lose, as long as he 'became one with his Pokemon'.
"Of course I am! I can't lose! Not if I'm with my Pokemon and they're with me," Ash replied as he gently scratched Pikachu under the chin, resulting in a delightful coo from the Mouse Pokemon.
"And thanks again, Serena. You really helped me out last night. I'd probably still be stressing out about my strategy if it weren't for you."
The honey-blonde immediately smiled upon hearing Ash's gratitude. On the other hand, Clemont and Bonnie were most surprised by Ash's statement as they both raised an eyebrow and jerked their heads towards Serena. Bonnie wore a devious smile, whereas Clemont had a genuine smile. "Maybe my talk with her did help," the gym leader thought to himself.
Serena soon realised the two Lumiose siblings were oddly staring at her, triggering her curiosity. "What?"
"Oh, it's nothing..." Bonnie slyly replied before looking away to hide her laughter which Serena completely ignored..
"Your match is starting soon so we'll leave now," Clemont stated, "And we'll be rooting for you." Ash gave the gang a reassuring smile before the three started to leave.
"Oh yeah, Ash," Serena said as Ash turned his attention back to Serena from his PokeBalls.
"You better be a winner next time we see you." The raven-haired trainer gave his largest, trademark toothy grin upon hearing the performer's support.
At long last, the boy from Kanto was all alone with his Pokemon in their PokeBalls, except for Pikachu. Ash decided that his Pokemon might've needed some pep talk before the battle, so he let them free. A blinding light appeared from all five PokeBalls as they opened, revealing the group.
"Gre!"
"Dra!"
"Vern!"
"Haw, haw!"
"Flame!"
The group consisting of Greninja, Goodra, Noivern, Hawlucha and Talonflame cried in synchronisation.
"Alright, guys. This is our very first League final and I want it to be a magical memory that we never forget. If we want to win, we need to work together; as one, and try our absolute hardest. But most importantly, we need to have fun out there! It doesn't matter if we lose. If we put up a good fight and have fun in doing so, that's the only thing that will matter. So let's get out there and try our best!"
Once again, the Pokemon shouted in triumph but this time, Pikachu joined in. Feeling content, Ash extended his arm for his Pokemon to bump it.
"Let's go!"
---
"Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the Kalos League final!" The crowd erupted into deafening cheers and applause, booming through the entire stadium.
"Now, before I introduce the finalists, I'd like to welcome our special guests. As per usual, we have the Champion of Kalos, Diantha, the prestigious Professor Sycamore and last but not least... We have Steven Stone from the Hoenn region!" Once again, the crowd all applauded upon hearing Steven Stone's name.
Somewhere in the stands, Serena, Shauna, Tierno, Trevor and Bonnie were confused to who the last person announced was. "Who's that?" Bonnie questioned.
