* Analise (Ana) P.O.V*
I stared off into the distance as the sun begin to rise. It's bright rays illuminated the early morning as the sky burst in hues of oranges and yellows. The fresh air entered my nostrils as a sudden calmness overcame me. Was this freedom?
Just one more step and I can begin my journey, I thought.
I took my very first step out of the big protruding doors that stood between me and the outside world. I pulled out my phone, soaking up the sun. I didn't expect my parents to show for my release, they lost faith in me months ago.
"Get in we have things to do Ana," the voice of my best friend snapped. Nathan sat there in his car with a big bring plastered onto his face. He looked at me long and hard, taking notice of my physical changes throughout the years. I climbed into his small white car as a sinking feeling collided with me.
I wasn't there for him receiving his first car, when did this occur?
So what brings you to these parts?," I asked, burying the thought of my new release. I rolled down the window while a deep chuckle rang through the air. "It's nice to see you, Analise," Nathan said, beginning to pull off.
"Why did you come?" I suddenly asked him, feeling the question burn into my mind.
"I came to rescue my best friend," He exclaimed as he pulled up to a red light. He took the chance to take out his phone and began texting. He then heard the angry driver behind us beeping his car horn repeatedly, wanting us to go. I reached my pale arm out of the window and flipped him off, it was a beautiful day..why rush it? Nathan then began to drive, sneaking glances at his phone regularly.
I saw Nathan glance over at me and smile before he looked down at his phone once more. He was aimlessly looking while driving, putting my worthless life in danger.
"NATHAN WATCH OUT!" I yelled as he swerved over to where a tree was and hit it. The airbags immediately went off and saved my head from colliding with the dashboard. I sat up and looked over at Nathan's head to see that it was bleeding.
"Idiot!" Nathan yelled, growing angry at himself. The older man we had managed to hit crawled out of his car and stormed over. Nathan climbed out of the car right after wiping the blood from his head.
"I'm so sorry," I heard him plead as the guy scoffed.
"Asswipe you could have killed all three of us! Are you fucking insane?!" The man yelled as he snatched the phone out of my brother's hand and threw it against the tree, shattering it to pieces. Nathan's front of remorse faded quickly as he began to push the man.
"Nathan please calm down," I said climbing out of the car with a sigh.
"I know I fucked up but you have no right to-"
He was cut off.
"Listen, it's not my fault that you can't keep your eyes on the road. This is a lot right now and I really don't have time for this shit," I told him as I reached through the window, grabbing my backpack from inside the car. That's when Nathan broke away from the man as he stared at the approaching figure in the distance.
Time seemed to slow down as a disgruntled look blanketed Nathan's face. "What's wrong Nate?" I asked puzzled, following his eyes to the approaching figure.
It was a familiar face, someone that I thought I wouldn't see for a very long time. My heart pounded like a drum in my chest and before I knew it, I was marching to the beat.
Suddenly, I stopped dead in my tracks. I was in front of this familiar face, eyes glazed over and all.
"I haven't seen you since you went to jail. I really missed you," he said in a taunting manner.
"Sure," I said. I didn't buy any of the words he was saying. A smirk suddenly made its way onto his arrogant face, indicating amusement.
"What's so amusing asshole?" I said slightly annoyed.
"You didn't change at all Ana," he said as he smiled at me. I flipped him off before giving my old best friend a small peck on the cheek before walking off.
There're times where I can understand guys better than females but otherwise, they're confusing.
Please help me.

Knock knock
"Open up Jackie and Mark" I yelled beating on the door harder. I always called my parents by their real names. The sentiment died when they believed I've actually killed someone. The little girl they thought they knew died along with any hope of happiness.
Knock knock knock knock
"If you don't open this fucking door Jackie I'll kick it in," I said impatiently as the door swung open. I was met with the makeup caked face of my mother.
"Why are you here Analise?" My mother spat coldly at me as I pushed passed her and began walking up the stairs.
"I live here now if you'd excuse me " I spat back at her as I stormed upstairs and onto my old room. A half-smile made it's way to my face as I was greeted with the same turquoise walls plastered with tons of The 1975 and Nirvana posters. I threw my bag down beside my closet that was filled with clothing and instruments. My eyes scanned the room.
It's funny how foreign this place feels even if it's home.
I took off of my sweater and beanie as I walked over to my small white desk and sat at it. There, I found my old laptop and switched it on. I felt a pang of hurt as I glanced at the wallpaper.
Oh, Lina how I miss you...
I then felt tears burn my dark brown eyes as I slammed it shut. It all began to flow back to me, the memories, and what occurred that day.
Crying is for the weak.
It took a moment before I could stop the tears from falling. I wiped them away quickly before setting my sights on something different.
I then switched onto some music before bouncing around and screaming the lyrics. I danced and twirled around with my eyes closed while I got lost within the music. It was my first time out in years, everything felt foreign to me except music.
Music is my safe space.
"Nirvana, Nice," I heard a voice say as I turned around to be met with the face of Nathan Peterson. "Oh my god Nate" I yelled as I jumped onto him and wrapped my legs around him.
"I missed my little rebel so much and I'm sorry for almost killing you," He said as he hugged me tighter.
It's funny how earlier that day I was almost killed by him. He seemed to care more about what's on his phone other than driving safely. It all washed away within seconds like it always does. If only my past could do the same then maybe I'd actually be happy.
"It's fine but how'd you know I'd run off somewhere else instead of coming here?" I asked as he did one of those cute crooked smiles.
"Ever since you left I've been sneaking into you're room and looking through your things and plus the music," he said as I let go of him.
"You really are a creep," I said, making him roll his eyes.
