Jillienne's POV
"Oh come on." He groaned playfully. "I can't believe you still can't properly make a sand castle." He laughed.
I gathered the sand and tried to fix the tower that had fallen but it crumbled down again causing Luke to laugh harder.
"Shut up, Luke." I hit his arm and crossed my arms in front of my chest.
"I'm so tired from laughing, let's just stop this." He chuckled and stood up, offering a hand and to help me get up. "Ice cream?"
"Sounds good."
We walked to the ice cream parlor and went to the counter.
"Choco Mint and Cookies n' cream please." He ordered and I looked at him."How did you know what I was about to order?" I asked him.
He shrugged and paid for our ice cream. "Isn't that your favorite?"
I looked at him with my eyebrows knitted together.
How did he know?
We got our ice cream and started walking around.
"You know back when we were kids, I would see you around eating ice cream and you would eat the same flavor every time." He chuckled.I could feel my face heating up.
"Your memory's pretty amazing." I let out an awkward laugh."Don't think so," He frowned. "I didn't recognize you."
I nodded. I barely recognized him too, it has been 5 years and we both changed a lot . If it weren't for his eyes and his habits I probably wouldn't figure out that he's the kid I used to play with.
"Well you got my name right, if that makes you feel better." I grinned at him.
"It's a name so unique it's hard to forget." He chuckled, bumping his shoulder with mine.
"It's also hard to remember." I scrunched my nose. I was never fond of my name, it has no special meaning or anything and I find the way it's spelled annoying, all those extra letters.
I mentally rolled my eyes.We stopped by the beach and sat on the big rock that had the perfect view, it was almost sunset and I wanted to see it so we decided to stay and wait for it.
"So, are you here for vacation?" He asked."Yeah, you?"
"Same, I'm with my parents."
I nodded and stayed quiet."I almost gave up you know." He said making me turn to him. "I thought I won't see you again."
I chuckled and he looked at me confused.
"I've been coming back to this place every summer these past few years. This is the last time before we move, I'm glad to finally meet you here today." I told him."Wow." He laughed.
"What?"
"I actually begged my parents to come here for vacation thinking about the small chance I might see you here." He rubbed his nape. "Although, I had no idea what you would look like or how I should look for you here."
I laughed. "I guess it was weird that we got to meet today."
"Nah, I'm glad to see you again." He grinned.
"That makes the two of us."
"So you're 15 now?" He asked and I nodded. "Oh you're older than me. But I'm turning 15 in a few months so it doesn't matter."
"Who cares, really?" I laughed and he shrugged.
"I just can't believe we got to see each other again after 5 years." He said. "It's just unbelievable."
I nodded. "I guess we got lucky. I still can't believe we both thought we would see each other again so easily. It took forever." I laughed at how carefree and naive we were back then. We were pretty dumb too, considering we should've thought about a way to keep in touch but we were basically kids. What could we possibly do?
He looked at me chuckling, probably after reminiscing just like I was.
"Those were the days." He smiled widely and I smiled too.
"Those were the days." I repeated, the smile I had not too long ago turning upside down. Luke noticed the change in my mood and looked at me worriedly, I shrugged it off and gave him a smile.
I was just genuinely happy to have him back in my life and that was all that mattered.
