Jillienne's POV

I was awaken by the loud, annoying ringing of my phone, which was weird to me because I only get texts and calls from my dad and I was sure as hell that he won't be calling me at this time of the night when we live under the same roof.
I roam my hands around the bed to feel my phone. I answered the call still with my eyes shut, knowing that the light from the phone in a pitch black room would blind me.
"Hello." I spoke groggily.

"Jillienne."
My eyes snapped open and my eyebrows furrowed.

I think I just heard Luke.

"Are you Luke?" I asked with all seriousness. I heard him chuckle from the other line. "Why are you in my dream?"

"You're not dreaming." He mumbled.

"You're calling me?" I asked another obvious question and I can already imagine him rolling his eyes. "This is an overseas call, Luke. It'll cost you." I sat up and leaned my back against the headboard.

"Doesn't matter." He mumbled, the sadness in his voice was impossible not to catch.

"What happened, Lukey?" I asked, knowing something had happened.

"I just- I missed you." He spoke like he wasn't sure if that was the right thing to say.

I checked my phone screen for the time before bringing back the phone to my ear. "It's 3 in the morning where I'm from, Lucas." I chuckled.

"Sorry," he mumbled. "I just wanted to hear your voice. It's been a while since our last talk."

I bit my lip, I missed him too. He sounded so serious that he was starting to make me feel worried on what he's gonna say next. We haven't been talking much, just a few chat when we're both online but that was just about it, no skype calls or random midnight conversations.

"You don't sound so good." I mumbled.

There is something more to this than just missing me.

"It's just that-"
I stayed quiet, waiting for him to finish, hearing him let out a heavy breath before he started speaking again. "I broke up with Aleisha."

I couldn't understand what I was feeling but one thing I was sure was that I felt bad, he looked happy with her. "Why?"

"It just didn't work out. I thought I liked her enough to be with her."

"Maybe you do like her, maybe you're just a little confuse about your feelings because this is all new to you. Or may-"
"No, I can't be with her." He cut me off. "She- she's not the one I want and I just realized that. I didn't want to hurt her so I told her the truth."

I sighed.
I guess boys are just complicated like that.

"Well, I hope you get the girl you really want." I chuckled. "But this time don't rush things, girls are easily hurt, remember that."

"Yeah, she's kinda out of league though." He said. "She's really amazing." He added sighing.

"Really? but you're pretty amazing at making me happy. That's a really impressive skill!" I joked and he chuckled.

"I guess I'll just stick to that for now. Just like what you said, I won't rush it this time." He said. "Goodnight."

"Goodnight, Luke." I told him and he stayed quiet for a few seconds before ending the call.

I stared at my phone. That was weird, he said he didn't love her but he sounded so down.
I smiled to myself, happy that the boys and I will get time from him again, but half of me was worried about him. He did say that the reason he broke up with her was because he was in love with someone else, I wanted to ask him about the girl but she's probably someone from their school or somewhere from their neighborhood, I guess it'll remain a mystery until he tell me himself.
