If I were to meet you,
And you were to meet me,
What would you think?
Would you see me as a female?
A girl with pale skin?
A ginger or a white?
Or would you see me for my personality?
Would I see you for your posture?
Your religion?
Your style?
If we meet,
I hope you don't just see me,
So I will not just see you.
Giving us a chance to smile.
How much easier life would be,
If no one could see.
If we all just could meet,
And could know nothing but each other's personalities.
If we were to meet,
What would you see?
Only the money not there,
Or my plain graphic tee?
Would I only see
By your tux and tie
Your worry free life
lived too luxuriously?
If only we were blind
And could see each other hearts
We would have known right from the start
What a wonder we each could be.
If we were blind
Prejudice
Sexism
Racism
Judgements
Couldn't get between you and me.
Oh just think how much easier it would be.
If we met
And didn't just see
If we just had our first talk,
Full of glee,
And we wouldn't have to worry about what we might be.
I'm tired of judgement deciding who I might be.
I'm tired of strangers hating me.
In this way prejudice has chained you and me.
If only we were blind
Maybe we could let go
And finally be free.
