The Spotlight

A spotlight shines on me,
Highlighting all of my insecurities,
Caused by all the hypocrisy,
And illegitimacy we call society.
Forget about respect!
All they're gonna do is inspect,
And dissect.
Until all you have is a world unkept.
Dreams are just deception.
Corruption causes destruction,
That overrides protection,
And all attention is on human perfection;
Something we can't attain.
So through words we're slain,
Being told we're not to be that way.
As we start to hate,
That spotlight shines in my face,
Telling me I'm wrong.
I'm overreacting to the fame.
They even judge my pain.
They never fail to proclaim,
How I must be insane,
To sometimes be afraid.
Oh, to look at all those eyes,
Who discriminze ,
And chide,
Me-the one who is terrified of you guys.
The ones not in the light,
Who have the right,
To in spite,
Criticize this poem.

Though kids who hide,
In the back of the room,
With mouths shut,
And ears in tune.
Don't be afraid of the spotlight too.
Forget how the world can be rude.
Some will see your soul shine through.
Forget the others,
Their opinions aren't true.
Just find peace,
Now that you've said your piece.
Then go to the back of the room,
Where you are happily mute,
Rest your voice until it needs to be used.
When you speak the truth,
You're either praised or abused.
And that's what the spotlight can do for you.
