Christmas

It's the most stressful time of the year,
With those jingle bells ringing in your ear,
Only reminding of the family to be here.
Lying to children,
As carolers are singing,
About good old St. Nick.
For every person you must pick,
The perfect Christmas gift.
There's lights,
And mistletoe in the air,
Well who do you think put it there?
And don't get me started about the big feast,
Where you're forced to cook potatoes and roast beef,
And then make a million treats,
For Santa Claus to later eat.
If I could I'd take a seat,
But there's still the family I must go meet!
I try and try and try again,
To get a tree up,
With ornaments and tin,
But those ornaments keep on breaking,
And the tree's needles go sinking,
As I'm left with a floor to sweep,
And a house to keep,
Answering the door for off-key carolers to sing,
Letting in the cold winter breeze.
The radio has only Christmas songs playing,
For toys I am paying,
Cookies I am baking,
It's so cold I could go-ice skating.
And of course I am praying,
Because that's the only way I can keep on saying,
Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year,
Somehow faking my cheer,
Impatient for the new year,
Then Christmas Day is here,
And I find,
It was all worth,
The stress,
And the tears,
For after all, it is, the most wonderful time, of the year.
