Chapter 40

"So, Shailey tell us a little more about yourself." Mrs. Robinson told me after we had finished with the delicious meal she had cooked up for us.

"Okay." I said wiping the corners of my mouth with my napkin. "Let's see, what do you want to know?"

"Your background." Mr Robinson piped in.

I thought for a minute. I told them about my father. But not about the whole 'my mother was a drunk and hated me' drama because it would just be awkward then. After I talked about myself for what seemed like two days I excused myself to go to the bathroom. They told me it was down the hall and the second door on the right. I accidentally went to the second door on the left and ended up in Their computer room which had five different computers, one for each family member. The computers were customized for each person. It was amazing. After looking around I still needed to use the restroom, but I didn't want them to think I take forever so I just walked back into the dining room.

I loved Noah's family. They were all so kind and caring of each other. When I was in the hospital, Noah would always talk about them and it made me happy because he was so happy.
He also told me about how his mother got pregnant with him at age 16, and it was hard for her. She dropped out of school and the father of Noah wanted nothing to do with her or Noah. So she raised Noah with the help of her parents, which is probably why Noah is so close with his grandparents. His grandparents would watch him while his mother went to night school, and there she met Mr. Robinson. And then their whole love story. It's so romantic and sweet. {you'll find out later.}

After I returned from the "bathroom", we moved our little party from the dining room to the den. There was a huge flat screen tv, a black chandelier, and a snack bar. Paige and Payton played ponies in their little corner while I talked with Noah and his parents.

Mrs. Robinson also known as Natalia had reddish brown hair that was pulled up into a very fancy bun. She had on pearl earrings and a blue dress with a pearl necklace to match the earrings. She seemed like the type of woman who would be stuck up and demanding. But that's just a stereotype, she was actually very cool and down to earth. She just liked dressing nicely.

Mr. Robinson also known as Bret had a very shiny forehead with a very messed up hairline, but it worked for him. He had black hair with a good amount of gray in it. He was wearing a blue suit and black tie. With a watch very similar to the one Noah always wore. He seemed like the type of man to judge you before he meets you, but he's actually very nice and his family donates to a bunch of different charities; for animals and people.

Paige Robinson, the 'older by 30 seconds twin', had brown hair up in two pig tails. She had hazel eyes, just like her mother (and twin of course.)
Payton Robinson, the younger of the twins, had the same brown hair as Paige, but her hair was in a single pony tail. Unlike Paige, Payton had smaller eyes that were closer together.

After dinner, the family and I sat in their family room and watched a movie that suited everyone. Something for the adults, for the teens, and the little ones too.

I sat next to Noah. His arm around me and I was cuddled in close. His parents were on the couch next to us and Paige and Payton were sitting on the floor. They didn't seem to be paying much attention, though.

After the movie we talked a little more, but it was getting late and I'd have to be home soon. I hugged his parents and thanked them for having me over hoping I made a good impression. They seemed to like me. Paige and Payton didn't want me to leave they came running after me saying "no Shailey stay!" So I promised them I'd be back soon.

His family stood in the driveway and waved goodbye to us as we drove down the street.

"Do you think they liked me?" I asked Noah nervously.

"Hard to tell." He said "somewhere between like and I fucking love her. Don't worry Shay, they loved you."

"Thanks." I said. "And thank you for buying me all these gifts."

He grabbed my hand and kissed it.
"The best for the best." He said.
I loved that cheesy shit.

I actually lived relatively close to Noah. We live in the same neighborhood, it's just a really big neighborhood. We live on opposite ends.

He pulled up to my front door it was 11:45 pm. I wasn't sure if my mom was working the late shift tonight, and I assumed Summer was out with some friends for some cheerleading thing or whatever she does these days. I gave Noah a kiss on the cheek and thanked him for all the stuff once more.

"Here Shay, lemme help you." He said getting out of the car and grabbing the bags from me. I took out the key from my pocket and unlocked the door.

"HELLO?!?" I hollered. No answer. "Everyone is out tonight I guess. " I told Noah.

"Do you want me to stay with you?" Noah asked.

"Your parents wouldn't mind?" I asked concerned.

"No. I can just give them a call. They'll be chill. As long as we get up to go to church tomorrow." He said pulling out his phone.

"Okay. Sure. Stay with me." I said.

He called his parents and they were totally cool with it. They probably said something along the lines of make smart decisions, I love you so much. See you tomorrow morning.

I went upstairs to my room with Noah and checked my phone. A text from mom: Sorry Sweetie, I have to work late. And Summer will be out for a cheerleading thing. Have Noah stay with you. I love you. Still go to church tomorrow.
Eight phone calls and a voicemail from a number that seemed sort of familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on it. I wondered who it could be. I showed Noah and he didn't know the number at all. I listened to the voicemail and I could not believe who it was.
