I shot up in my bed, startling Midnight who jumped to his feet. My breaths came in quick, short gasps as I attempted to get oxygen to my lungs. My skin was covered in sweat but I was freezing cold. I quickly wrapped some of the furs around my arms, my body still shaking from the dream.
What did any of it mean?
The first time I had seen the wolf, it tried to kill me—or an least that's what I thought. I never got to finish the dream but this time, it didn't seem threatening. As if it wanted to help me. Did the wolf really have something to do with the mark? Was it some part of my imagination?
A knock drew me from my thoughts. My head whipped to my door, watching as the door peeked open. Shimmering grey eyes shined through the small crack. It's just Tove.
"You're a-awake, Lorien." She stammered, her Asgardian accent drawing out her words. "I thought you had been dreaming, I heard you out from the hall, you'd been talking in your sleep. I was 'bout ready to come awake you."
Tove had been another that I had became close friends with the last time I was in Asgard. Seeing that Loki had basically locked my in my room, Tove had been most of my company.
"What did I say?" I asked confused, I didn't remember me talking that much. Tove slipped into the room, bounding over to sit on the end of my bed. I pulled my legs up to sit Indian style to listen to her response.
"You where asking somebody 'bout your mark. It wasn't a nightmare was it?" Tove asked worriedly, I was quiet for a moment before I quickly shook my head. "No, it wasn't a nightmare."
"Good, I'd been getting worried."
My eyebrows were still drawn together in confusion. I don't remember talking to anyone in the dream about my mark.
"You know, you've got to tell me 'bout Midgard once you return. I've always wanted to know what it's like." Tove exclaimed, with a smile. If I get back.
"Yeah, that would be cool." I chirped, wondering how much longer I had until Loki came to get me. Another knock sounded at the door. Well that didn't take long.
The door opened but it wasn't Loki, it was another woman. She had the same long almost white hair and almost identical grey eyes.
"Mama," Tove stammered, jumping up from the end of my bed as if she wasn't allowed to sit there. Tove's mother chuckled, waving her daughter off.
"My child, I'm not mad. I'm here to prepare Lady Lorien for her ride today." She explained, my eyebrows furled again. Ride.
"Ride?" I questioned. Tove's mother laughed softly again.
"Your trip today will require some brief horse back riding." My eyes widened. Horse back riding? The only other time I had ever ridden a horse was when I came to Asgard the first time—and that had been when Loki was controlling the horse.
"You will do fine my dear."

Nearly twenty minutes later and I was decked in riding gear—or Shadow Hunter gear as I dubbed it.
I wore a pair of black riding pants that were thick and tight against my legs—almost as if I was wearing skinny jeans—because I refused to wear another dress. Then I wore a loose white tunic underneath what seemed like a thin leather piece of armor. I had never seen anything like it before but it was pretty cool. Tove's mother—Faline—had given me a pair of riding boots as well. They came up to just below my knees and matched my pants in color.
"I still don't get your dislike for dresses, Lorien." Tove chirped. I rolled my eyes as I finished braiding my hair. "Girls don't wear as many dresses as they used to on Midgard."
"You mean all girls on Midgard wear pants!" Tove exclaimed.
"I mean, not every girl, but dresses aren't as popular anymore. They're saved for special occasions." I explained, "Girls still wear skirts, but mostly pants."
"Woah." Was Tove's response.
"Tove, my child." Faline called from across the room. "It's time to say goodbye for now, Lorien must start her trip." Tove huffed out a breath of air and jumped to her feet, placing her hands on her hips.
"I wish you luck my friend."
I was going to need all the luck I could get.
