The first thing I noticed when my eyes shot back open, was white. A huge wide expanse of bright white—and then I felt cold. Very cold. Panic struck me and my breathes grew rapid. Am I dead?

"No." A gruff, deep voice answered from my right. I jumped, scrambling up on to my hands and knees. Frigid snow burned my exposed skin. Wait, snow? Oh no, no, no, no, no, no!

My gaze shot up in front of myself and I froze in fear at the sight of massive beast lying in the snow. It's dark, ragged black fur contrasted against the blinding white. It's enormous paws sat less then a foot from me and it's sharp amber eyes seemed to stare into my soul.

"P-please don't hurt me." I whimpered once I finally found my voice. It came out as a fearful squeak and my mouth went dry. I tried to close my eyes but I realized that I couldn't break eye contact with the massive wolf.

"I have never had the intention of harming you, child." I almost screamed. Did the wolf just speak?

"Yes." The wolf spoke again. It's jaws opening and closing with every syllable—revealing it's huge caines.

"How? I don't understand? You can talk?!" I rambled, my eyes wide. The wolf let out a low chuckle.

"You meet two talking birds without flinching and you wonder how it is possible for a wolf to talk?"

I froze again. "How did you know about that?"

"I am bound to the mark on your arm." The wolf began to explain. "I have been with you since you received it."

"I don't understand then, how? Where were you? Where are we?"

"Your head. You are dreaming this. It is the only way for me to communicate with you until I am unbound from the mark." The wolf explained. I shook my head, closing my eyes.

"I'm dreaming? But I was dying. Amora was speeding up the curse." I fell back into a sitting position—feeling no longer cold.

"You are dying, that is why I'm speaking with you." The wolf answered. I felt cold again.

"You can fight off the curse. You may not be able to completely stop it but it will give the others time to cast a counter."

"How?" I gasped. The wolf began to stand up, he shook himself to rid his fur of the snow that had fallen on it.

"By waking up. In order to create the curse—a living soul must be bound to it—it acts as a counter balance. When the victim dies, the soul bound is released. But as with all magic, there are tricks and loopholes. If the wearer of the mark bares a pure soul, it is possible for the bound soul to be released before the wearer dies in order to prevent their death. Meaning that I can become unbound from the mark until the curse is destroyed. I can fight back the lady Amora for long enough that the Goddess can counter the curse."

I was almost in tears. "So I won't die?"

"Yes—but there is a side affect of this." The wolf added, lowering his massive head. "Once the curse is destroyed, you won't lose the mark—it will still be present but unable to harm you. And secondly, I will be rebound to the mark in my physical form. Not this dream form. If you were to die, I would too."

"Oh." I breathed out quietly. "You don—"

"Do not mind what it will cost me. You are an innocent, and I will help break the curse. Now all you must do is wake up. The pain will return but you can fight it—you must fight it."

THIRD PERSON P.O.V

Lorien reawakened with a violent gasp for air—the pain was back. Tears flooded down her cheeks and her skin was on fire yet again.

Lorien could barely see Loki beside her. He was holding her hand in his and he was mumbling words under his breath. In the direction of Amora, Thor and the Avengers were struggling to ward off her magic. It wasn't going to last much longer.

"G-go!" Lorien cried out in pain. Loki's eyes shot to hers—widening in confusion. "H-help them. H-help is coming. I-I w-will be fine."

She had barely finished speaking when a thundering voice reached in her ears. "Amora!"

The wolf! Lorien laughed to herself. The laugh turned into actual coughs and she was yet again hit with flash of pain.

Lorien whimpered, withering on the ground. Her eyelids felt so heavy. Lorien could only just imagine closing them and dreaming again so the pain would be gone.

No Lorien! She screamed at herself. Fight it, you must!

Lorien let out an agitated groan, biting the inside of her cheek to keep from crying out in pain again.

Lorien heard loud scream—one that was not her own—and suddenly the pain disappeared. Air filled her lungs and tears of joy started flooding down Lorien's cheeks. She heard someone call her name. It was loud and panicked—Loki's.

He fell down next Lorien, his hand in her own. "Lorien."

"Loki." She whispered. "What happened?"

"A wolf." He explained and Lorien almost started laughing for real this time. Joyful laughter.

"Eir is starting to create the counter curse. It shall not be long now."  Loki added, his eyes lit up hopefully but Lorien suddenly felt cold.  She couldn't understand it—her fingers went numb and chest felt cold, like ice.

"Somethings wrong."  Lorien whimpered as the cold spread.

"The curse is taking effect."  Another voice explained, panicked.  Lorien couldn't see who the voice belonged to.  "You must hurry."

"Hold on."  Loki urged, gently squeezing Lorien's hand.  She couldn't barely feel it at this point.

"I—" her breath left her lungs and She could no longer find the words.  No, no, no! Everything went numb, Lorien couldn't move.

A tear slipped down Lorien's cheek as her sight began to blur, black dots danced across her vision as if teasing her. She tried to blink them away but they only doubled in numbers. Her head grew dizzy. Was this it? She pleaded with herself. She couldn't leave Loki by himself, this couldn't be i–

Lorien's head fell limp to the side and she fell into darkness.

Please wait a little before you smite me dead.  I know that I'm an awful human being.

I hope a gave at least one person chills with that last sentence though, I know I got them when I first had the idea.
