Most of the people in the hospital weren't injured—thanks to Eir—so it didn't take long to get everyone to the West wing. The only issue we ran into were freaked out kids. Several times I had to go up to kids—my age and younger—and tell them that it would okay. I really didn't mind, I liked little kids.
It was about the time that Eir and Loki had finished the warding spell—blocking off the hallway to the West wing—did I remember the ear pieces Jemma had given us back at the quin-jet.
"Hey!" I called out to Loki as the thought crossed my mind. I quickly pulled out my ear piece and showed it to him.
"The ear pieces, we can contact Thor and the others." I explained excitedly. If we could contact them, they could help get rid of the Hydra agents.
Loki and Skye's eyes lit up and Skye reached up to turn hers on. Her eyes suddenly dimmed.
"It's not working." She mumbled, pulling hers out as well.
"What do you mean?" I asked, coming over to stand beside her. Skye frowned and rolled the ear piece over on her palm.
"It's like the battery was shortened or something." She explained, her eye brows furling.
"Could the force field have done that when we first passed through?" Loki questioned. Skye shrugged.
"It's a possibility." Skye answered quickly, looking up at us.
"There's also a possibility that I can fix them."

I sat perched on one of the hospital's chairs, watching Skye work on her ear piece in the chair opposite of mine.
Skye had explained—after I had asked—that a normal watch battery wouldn't work in the ear pieces because of the way Jemma and Leo had designed them. They were specially designed for S.H.I.E.L.D because electromagnetic pulses—EMPs if you will—had no affect on them. Well, as you can see, a force field created by a Norse goddess wasn't exactly in the thoughts of Jemma and Leo, when they designed them.
"I think," Skye paused. "That I have almost got it."
"Really?" I asked, jumping from my perch. Skye smiled and threw one of her hands into the air.
"Got it." She sang in a sing-song voice as she quickly stood up. Loki—who had been leaning against the wall—walked over to us.
"Well, there's only one way to actually know." Skye explained before pressing the power button. Instantly there was an almost inaudible hum and then silence.
"It's on." Skye declared. She quickly put it back into her ear.
"Guys?" She asked and she started to nod. We've got contact. Skye mouthed to us before responding to what ever was said over the ear piece.
"Yeah, we're all okay. We're currently barricaded in the hospital, there's Hydra agents everywhere. We might need some assistance."
