ALEX'S POV!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (It's the best part of the book isn't it? ;) )
Rumi sits on the ground a few feet from me, rocking back and forth and shaking furiously. I really don't blame her for being all freaked out over stabbing that Scara leech, especially since it was her first stab. I can't be judge mental because I freaked out after I killed someone the first time but panicking for three days straight, and counting, is just too much for me to watch.
When I took my first victim and watched as the light flooded from his eyes it was a very trademarking day for me. Up until that day I was normal and innocent but that death put me over the edge and now I've been killing people for a while without mind of the blood or anything. I'm crazy, I know, but Rumi can't be crazy otherwise I wouldn't have to take care of here which secretly I don't mind. With exceptions to her whining and little creepy mode things.
I look back to Camen who is currently sleeping under a tree, still wrapped tight in the fetal position. I walk over to him and shake his shoulder, trying to get his attention.
"Camen, please wake up I want to talk to you." I whisper to him.
His eyes blink momentarily getting used to the sun and then when he sees that it's me he pulls me down to him and kisses me. It's different from the small pecks he gave me earlier on, now it's more passionate, like he really wants to kiss me. It's more emotional and loving.
"Woah," I say pulling away because I'm starting to get uncomfortable.
"I'm sorry," He says looking at me
"It's fine you've just never kissed me like that before." I reply
"Yes I did a couple days ago!" He says with enthusiasm
"When? When you went into that shock or whatever?" I ask a little annoyed
"Before that, remember?" He asks and I can't remember anything so I push my eyebrows together in confusion.
"Wait, Alex?" He says like he hasn't realized I am here the whole time
"Yes?' I say in return, honestly getting full blown annoyed with him
"Oh," He says pausing, his voice becoming all dejected and sad "I got to go pee or something." He says then gets up and walks away
'What the heck was that?" I yell out loud
Rumi is stuck in her own mind and Camen has no idea where his is, what am I going to do with these people? I am not talking to Sean until they both get out of their sick funks! On a whim I march over to where Sean is holding Rumi's hand and trying to coax her out of whatever she is in so they can talk.
"Go away moron." I say to him, smacking his head
"Why are you still standing there, Alex? You're the only moron I've seen in weeks." He retaliates
"Wow, Sean, that hurt me. It hurt me deep in here." I respond putting my hand over my heart and making a sad face
"You of all people have a heart?" He asks in response making me smirk
"Oh kid you got know idea what I've got in here, its a secret." I reply making him look at me intensely "Maybe I'm even a robot!" I say with fake enthusiasm
"Whatever." He replies looking back down to Rumi
"You know Sean, you haven't had a haircut in a while." I say smiling as I take out my knife and slice off the newly grown three or so inches
"No!" He yells looking back to me and grabbing for his previously girl length hair
"Chill out girly, I just wanted my turn with Rumi but you made me get all angry and nasty for no good reason. It's a shame really I was beginning to respect your choice in female hair styles." I tell him laughing the whole time
"You suck Alex. It was not my fault that you cut my hair, say whatever you'd like but it was not my fault. I'm going to go do something else, away from you so you can talk to Rumi if you'd like." He says with a grumpy pout as he walks off.
I crouch in front of Rumi and put my hands on her arms. I look at her closed eye lids and then go ballistic. I don't really know what happened but I do know it is extremely embarrassing.
"Rumi you get up! You get up right now! You can't leave me alone with these stupid dip heads! You just can't! If you do I will hate you forever! Do you know how hard it is for me to even remotely try and salvage the remains of my life with these to bricks as my help?" I pause for breath but charge on "I know it's hard to deal with stabbing someone but you don't need three days to help you through it, you just need friends. We are all here for you all the time but Rumi you are never here when I need you! I need you too Rumi this isn't a one way friendship, you are like a sister to me and you can't leave me with two stupid whatevers."
She groans but I keep charging on.
"You know how hard it is for me to resist killing Sean? If you stayed like this forever I'd kill him in a heart beat! He is so annoying and thinks he is smarter than everyone even though he is pretty much the most stupid thing I've ever met. Did you know that Rumi? Wake up! Did you know I need you? I do need you so much do I need you but you aren't here you are off trapped in some part of your brain. Guess what Rumi you didn't kill her. She is still alive. Wake up and smell the roses sweet heart because they'll be gone for winter." I yell at her.
Just as soon as I am done I know I have cried through out the whole thing. I wipe my tears quickly just to shed some more when Rumi opens her eyes and stands up.
" Alexis you don't need me! You are the strongest person I've ever met. Forever and ever you will be." She says "I'm sorry."
"You better be girl because you made me cry so help me stand up and we will start moving again." I say as she helps me up
'Okay, I think I'm ready to go." She says looking down at the ground "Wait a second is that Sean's hair?"
"That is what happens when you close your eyes and go away. You can't defend your Sean's hair." I say with a little bit of a growl
"He probable deserved it." She replies
Once we find the boys we start back onto the highway, again starting our trek to the Resistance and I can't help but hope it is good because I can't handle another one of these killing things with Rumi freezing up.
