ALEX POV!!!!!!!! (CHRISTMAS IS SO CLOSE! And all of the other Holidays like quanza and such. Merry birth of Jesus fellow wattpadders! We are so close to the end and that makes me sad but lets get on to the chapter!)
I lay in bed, imobolized. Evan has gone back to the Resistance with the rest of the population that is left. My leg has started healing but they are contemplating moving me to a new location, presumably the Resistance, so I can get better treatment.
"God! Someone get in here and get me out of here you imbasul losers! I want to go home! Get me out of this stupid place! I don't need your help!" I scream out, startling the other patients.
"Shut up girl!" A men a few beds down yells to me, granting him a icy glare from me.
"No!" I retort, starting to get off of the bed to show him how Alex does it here.
Just as my wounded leg hits the ground it hurts. I form my fingers into claw like weapons and grip onto the mattress. I have gotten better enough that I can limp around. I go as fast as possible, trying to get around enough in order to get to his bed and punch him. Halfway there and nurse comes in and I know she is going to yell at me.
I turn around just as I see the middle aged woman open her mouth to yell at me "Alex, get back onto that mattress right now or you won't be going back to the Resistance first like we had originally planned."
"I'm going home?" I say excited
"Not if you don't get into bed." She snaps, causing me to limp back to the cott.
"When do I get to go home?" I ask reluctant to get all the way into a laying position
"Now." She replies, st arting to get a wheel chair from the corner. "Get down and come sit in this chair, you will respect your elders, miss."
"You made me-" I start to say slyly but she shushes me
"We are going to take you home, be grateful." She growls
I slouch into the chair and sigh at her crazy eyes as she strolls out of the infirmary. The sun shines into my eyes and blinds me, causing me to blink several times in order to clear my vision. We go over the most bumpy parts of the ground, which makes me very suspicious of what she is doing. See, the nurses here don't like me very much and they try to get rid of me every chance they get. I'm pretty sure a few of them have specifically tried to cause me pain, this one included.
I wasn't the first person in the infirmary which surprised me that I am first to go back. Then again, they hate me and want to see me go as soon as possible. I can't blame them though, they annoy me just as much as I annoy them. We go over a particularily large bump that jostles me around and makes my leg shoot up with pain that hurts intensely.
"Be easy you old bat!" I insult her trying to get her attention
"Don't treat me like crap you little demon girl." She shouts running over another rough bump
"You idiot! Use your eyes and look ahead of you!" My shouting voice rings above her lack of knowledge.
"Whatever, little witch, we are here get into the truck and then when you get out go to the hospital closest to you, stuck up novice." She yells at me practically dumping me out of the truck which hurts me intensely.
Snarling and growling, I wrap my fingers around her leg and pull her down to the ground, clawing her leg to fleshy pulp. That will teach her not to mess with Alex.
"You don't mess with me!" I shout, standing up and pulling myself into the truck as it pulls away.
We roll for a while, going over the occasional bump. I let my legs hang out of the back, catching the wind and letting them swing back and forth. I put my hand in my hair and realize it is as long as my shoulders now, I haven't cut it in so long, I don't even remembember the last time I had scissors to cut with! I put my fingers into my hair and try to run out the tangles. They catch my nimble fingers and I rip past them, taking chunks of black hair out of my scalp. I sigh and pull it off of my knuckles, throwing it onto the ground below the truck as we pass. My hair clings to my head in greasy chunks that remind me of when I didn't have a bath to soak in every other day or so.
The truck suddenly stops, causing me to jolt and fall out of the truck. I yell in surprise and tuck up tightly so I can lessen the fall. I tumble away and a doctor comes rushing towards me.
"Miss! Are you alright?" He asks frantic
"I'm fine! I've been through worse than this so get me off the ground!" I say reaching my hand up for some support while I get off of the dust covered ground.
The doctor reaches down and I am suddenly lifted onto my feet. I struggle with the first few steps but I am limping just fine on my own once I've experienced walking again. I go into the medical building-tent and the doctor brings me to a bed where I sit up onto it and rest, with a sigh of relief. The doctor pulls up my baggy pants to look at my wound.
"Wow, you had quite an infection." He says making me shiver "It is quite better now though."
"Oh, when can I go home and when can I see my friends?" I ask persistently, drumming my fingers on the rails
"Well," He says pausing just as a girl with short white hair and a boy with Asian skin and eyes burst into the tent.
"Alex!" Rumi cries cheerfully
"Hey," Evan says, his cheeks blushing bright red. Looks like since we are off the battlefield it's back to the old way of things.
"Rumi, how are you?" I ask as she comes close to give me a hug
"How am I doing? How are you doing? Are you okay? Does your leg hurt?" She gushes looking at my horribly gruesome gash
"I'm fine," I snap with too much harshness "Sorry."
"You're fine," Evan cuts in moving around Rumi to take my hand in his soft palms. He brings my fingers to his mouth and plants a small kiss on my knuckles. "I've missed you."
I blush and deflect his romanticism by saying "So, doc, when can I go home?"
"Oh, probably in a few days or so." He says making me happy
"I get to go home soon!" I cheer
