Chapter 17: A night to Remember

August 19th 2015

Dan's POV

It had been two months since I first met Jess, we weren't boyfriend and girlfriend yet but we have had a lot of dates here and there to restaurants and the cinema. I tried to make it as romantic as possible and over the months we bonded and became more connected with each other.

But tonight I wanted this to be special. I wanted it to be The night if you catch my drift. And for some reason I was really nervous. I've only ever been with one person and that was Alyssa, when I was 18.

It was kinda awkward and weird, you know how a normal first time should be. But other than her I've only ever been on a few dates with different people and that was it. I'm sure Jess has been with all different kinds of men, which made me feel even more anxious.

I removed the thoughts out of my head and got up to check on Phil. I check on him sometimes to see if he's ok, ever since his accident his been a bit shaken up, he won't stop looking at his hand and is a bit scared of going in the kitchen.

Phil doesn't handle surgery or blood very well, when I got surgery on my stomach when I was 19 Phil fainted and hit his head quite badly, but other than that he was fine.

I knocked on his door and opened it. "Hey Phil, you ok?" I asked, Phil saw me come in and removed his earphones.

"Hey Dan, I'm fine why you ask?" Phil asked removing his laptop to one side and put his legs over the side of his bed so he was sitting.

"Just to make sure you haven't fainted again, you know. From your hand." I said pointing to it. The stitches had faded but a scar was left in the palm of his hand.

Phil rolled his eyes at me, "Dan thank you, but I'm fine. You know what I'm like with blood and surgery. I can't stand it!" Phil said shivering at the thought of it as I chucked.

"Phil I'm going out with Jess tonight. Are you still going to your parents?" I asked and Phil nodded. "Yeah I'll be back on Tuesday. Oh, how's it going with you two? You seem really happy." Phil grinned as I sat down next to him.

"I've never felt this way about anyone, it's weird but amazing at the same time. I hope she feels the same about me." I admitted, I can sometimes get worried that Jess doesn't feel the same way as I do.

But if she didn't, she wouldn't be going out with me. Right?

"She seems like it. Dan, she's special and you know it, don't throw that away bud." Phil said and I nodded, "Thanks Phil." I said patting his leg as I got up.

"Oh and Dan." Phil said before I left.
"Yeah?" I asked and Phil smirked at me but chucked poking his tongue out slightly.

"Have fun tonight." Phil winked at me and giggled and I stood there shocked.

"How the hell did yo-"
"You enjoy talking to yourself WAY to much. I overheard you." He said and I huffed in annoyance. "It's ok Dan, really. Are you nervous?" He asked turning to the lighter side and stopped being a twat. I sighed.

"A little, you know I haven't been with anybody other than Alyssa. And tonight seems right, and I really really like Jess." I said truthfully. Phil stood up and opened his arms to hug me chuckling, he was always a big hugger.
