Jess's POV

I physically couldn't focus on anything around me because I couldn't stop thinking about what Dan said; describing the day we met.

I'd be lying if I said it wasn't the best day of my life too, because it was.

It's not that I don't love Dan anymore, I still do with all my heart. It's just.............confusing.

I have no idea why, it's just complicated in some ways but I don't know why. I always loved Dan and it broke my heart when I saw the look on his face when I told him we couldn't be together anymore, in a way it was good for us during the first couple of years when Isabelle was born. But now, I miss him.

I miss the way he would always wanted to kiss me and the way he would lean forward slightly so I could reach him because he was so tall and I was so short, the way he would smile at me or laugh, or the way I would wake up with him after an amazing night together. Those times I miss.

"Mummy?" Isabelle asked out of the blue which made me jump out of my skin, she had been silent for a few minutes now as we walked back home.

"Yes, sorry sweetie I was thinking. Is something wrong?" I asked her and she sighed looking at the floor.

"What's you're best memory?" She asked looking up at me.

"Why do you ask sweetheart?" I said and she kicked some stones on the pavement while sighing.

"Daddy told me the story of how he met uncle Philly, Aunty Becca and you. Daddy said he's best memory was when I was born, what's yours mummy?" She smiled up at me.

I was happy that Dan told her about the story, but I was afraid that Isabelle thought that I hurt Dan when I told him things had to come to an end. I didn't want Isabelle to think less of me, but I knew Dan wouldn't say anything he didn't mean or at least tried to explain this to her.

"The day you were born was the best day of my life sweetie." I told her truthfully but she groaned in frustration.

"Other than that, daddy said the same thing. But other than the day I was born, what's you're best memory?" Isabelle asked and I looked down at the floor.

Other than the day Isabelle was born my other best memory was the first ever date I went on with Dan.

The way he told me to close my eyes and showed me the water fountain that he took me to see, the way he put his hands around my waist and lifted me down, the way he lifted my chin up with his finger. The way he first kissed me.

The day Isabelle was born really was the best day of my life, she was so perfect and beautiful and this little girl has changed my life completely.

But that moment when I Dan showed me how life can be beautiful and amazing and the first spark that flew through my body was amazing and I still get a funny feeling in my stomach whenever I think back to that moment.
Because that, was a memory I never want to forget.

"Mummy?" Isabelle asked and I was pulled out of my thoughts as she stared up at me.

"Oh look, were home now." I said changing the subject and unlocked the door while Isabelle ran through the hallway, into the living room.

I threw my keys into a bowl and sighed, leaning against the front door thinking about everything.

I didn't want to tell Isabelle because I knew it would make her upset, knowing that her mum's other best memory was her ex boyfriend. That make her even more confused, she's only a child she doesn't understand any of these things between me and Dan.
