Chapter 22: Miracles Happen

Dan's POV

I stood there, shocked. I couldn't believe what I was hearing, Jess and Phil where still on the floor as Jess sobbed as Phil rubbed her back in comfort.
I sank to the floor my eyes blurry with tears as a few fell from my face, putting my hand to my mouth.

Jess came over to me cupping my face with her hands as tilted my head up so I was looking at her, her eyes red with tears as they streamed down her face.

"She didn't deserve it!" I chocked out and Jess nodded sniffing.
"I know. I don't know why but we tried and she wo-"

"WE GOT A PULSE!" Someone screamed as Jess turned around and bolted back into Isabelle's room as one of the doctors attached a breathing mask to Isabelle's face as her chest tried desperately to breath as the heart monitors where beeping like mad as the the doctor was trying to speed to Isabelle.

"Darling, can you hear me Isabelle? Can you give me a sign saying you can hear me?" The doctor asked Isabelle gently.

Isabelle's let out a violent cough as a few drops of blood escapes from her mouth and then she let out a chocked sob and started crying. As the doctors injected her with something (probably something to put her to sleep) because her crying stopped and she was sleeping.

They started putting tubes and wires into Isabelle's small body as me and Phil stood there shocked as doctors and nurses bolted back into her room as several nurses came in with insulin shutting the door.

"The-they.....got a pulse??!!!" I asked looking at Phil as our eyes where filled with tears and we where shaking, speechless and emotional.

We sat back in the chairs. Phil's head between his legs, breathing heavily while I rubbed his back making sure he wasn't gonna be sick.

"Is she gonna be ok?" He asked looking up at me as my leg was bouncing up and down and I managed a smile.
"They got a pulse, it may be small. But they will save that beautiful little girl." I told him and he smiled.

Jess came back out, we both rose and her eyes dried out but still red.

"She went into epileptic shock, it's not you're fault. We lost her for a minute, her pulse was small. But she's stable now, her aunt and uncle are here and we told them she'll be okay." Jess said crying slightly and I hugged her as kissed her forehead.

"She's a fighter! She'll be okay, Jess." I told her relief as Phil sat down breathing a sigh of relief.
Jess nodded and took my hands and squeezed them.

"You guys should go home, she's okay now. Go get some rest, I'll call you later Dan." Jess said kissing me and I smiled at her as she returned to Isabelle's room to talk to one of the doctors.

"Come one Phil, let's go home. Isabelle's fine now." I told him and Phil smiled and I had to keep him from falling because Phil nearly had a heart attack.

We got home, Phil still shaken up a bit and he went to bed early. As I grabbed some tea sitting down my leg still bouncing slightly as I could only hear my breathing. And started thinking again.

I jumped at the sound of my phone ringing and I saw I got a message from Jess.

'Hey Dan, I'm so sorry about earlier Isabelle is okay now. She's stable now, she'll be okay by tomorrow so you can go and see her then if you and Phil are okay. Xxx'
