Chapter 16: Living a little

Dan's POV

I haven't spoken to Becca since she came back from the doctors and claimed she couldn't have children, I was heartbroken for her. I suppose she wanted to be alone with Tommy at the moment, he'd text me and told me Becca told him. I was hurting for them, they would make such a cute family.

I push those thoughts out of my head and got up from the sofa, Jess was coming at 5:45pm and I had to get ready.

After taking a shower relaxing as the warm water sprayed in my face, shampooing my hair and conditioning it.

I towel dried my hair putting on my skinny jeans and smart black dress shirt, I started straightening my hair not wanted a curl in sight. Phil came into my room holding a bag of crisps munching on them.

"What time is Jess getting here?" Phil asked a mouthful of crisps, I chucked. "I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't spray crisps all over my bedroom floor!" I laughed, "what? Like this." Phil opened his mouth showing his chewed food as I threw my pillow at him, he grabbed it wiping his mouth with it.

"Thanks Dan." He giggled hysterically, "Fucking hate you Phil!" I shouted after he ran out of my room.

The door bell ran before I answered it, I looked in the mirror checking that everything was ok and I was good to go. I sighed and looked at myself in the mirror.
'You got this Dan, don't fuck up." I said to myself. Walking towards the front door.

I opened it and Jess looked beautiful. She was wearing a short black dress with black flat shoes her hair was flowing past her shoulders and was looking at her phone, as soon as she saw me answer the door she put in in her bag.

"Dan, hi!" She said cheerfully she opened her Arms and we hugged for a couple of seconds, her hair smelt like lavender and was so soft and silky.

"Hey Jess, come in." I opened the door letting her in as she thanked me.
"Wow! I love your home. It's so colourful and bright. So homey." She giggled slightly her green eyes widened.

"We've done as much as we can to make it feel like home. I think we've done that." I smiled. "Come in I'll introduce you to Phil, my flatmate." I said guiding her to the living room.

Phil was sitting on the sofa watching TV wearing his thick black glasses. He saw us come in a muted the TV.

"Phil this is Jess, Jess this is my friend and flatmate Phil." I said, Phil stood up and held out his hand for Jess and she shook it.

"Nice to meet you Jess, Dan wouldn't stop talking about you." Phil said grinning at me as I scowled at him. "Aw, you talk about me?" Jess asked looking at me grinning.

"Nice to meet you too Phil, watching death note I see." Jess said looking at the TV. "I absolutely love anime! My favourite is Free" Jess said smiling, Phil's eyes widened in surprise.

"Will you marry me?" He joked and started laughing, Jess giggled hysterically. "I would, but I have a date tonight." She smiled looking at me.
"Well, we have to go now. But I'll see you later Phil." I said taking Jess gently by her arm. "Nice to meet you Phil!" Jess called after, as Phil said goodbye to us at the door.

"Phil seems really nice." Jess said pulling the strap on her purse to her shoulder. "Yeah, he's great I've known him since I was 18. He's really great to have around." I confessed. I really did appreciate Phil's kindness and friendship even if I don't show it half the time and can be a dick sometimes.

"He seems like it. So where are we going?" Jess asked as we walked into the street, the sun was beginning to set and the sky was a pinky colour.

"Well I was thinking we'd go to Manchester, there's something I want to show you. It's a place I use to go sometimes when I was stressed or confused about something." I told her as she grinned at me.
