Chapter 48: I'm Not Letting You Go

3 weeks later......

4th September 2025

Dan's POV

It's been three weeks since me and Jess spent the night together, we haven't talked about it since that day and we only had a few awkward conversations when I go to pick up Isabelle, but that's pretty much it.

We both know now we love each other. What's holding us back? I have no idea, but right now I'm focusing on being with my little girl.

"Daddy? Are you listening to me?" Isabelle asked as she held her hand, skipping along the sand of the beach.

"What? Oh, sorry sweetie I was thinking about something. What were you saying?" I asked and Isabelle sighed in annoyance, rolling her eyes.

"Never mind, its k. We're you thinking bout mummy?" She giggled and I poked her nose and she giggled.

"Oi you, nosey posey!" I said pinching her cheek as she giggled hysterically and I grabbed her tickling her as she squealed with laughter sitting on the sand as she laughed.

"No! Daddy! No!" She squealed and I laughed as she tried running away but I grabbed her under her arms, picking her up and lifting her over my head as she laughed hysterically, kicking her little legs in the air. I set her back down on the sand and she folded her arms and pouted which made me laugh.

"No fair daddy! You didn't answer my question!" She pouted but I could see she was trying not to smile.

"If you must know mrs nosey, no I was not." I lied and Isabelle raised her eyebrows and folded her arms while standing in a sassy way as she giggled.

"Liar liar pants on fire!" She giggled jumping up and down as she pointed at me.

"Oh yeah!?" I smirked tickling her again as she laughed hysterically and broke free of my arms and started running as I caught up with her, picking her up under her arms and swinging her about like a rag doll and she wrapped her tiny legs around my stomach while supported her, as she smiled up at me.

"You're not a very good liar daddy." She giggled and I tutted rolling my eyes.

"You'll never give up, until I tell you will you?" I asked and she shook her head and smiled.

"Nope!" She laughed and I sighed.

"Yes, I was." I told her and she smiled touching my cheek with her small hand.

"Mummy loves you, and you love her. And you told her with the surprise, can't you be together?" She asked twiddling her fingers nervously.

I sighed heavily, staring down at Isabelle as she looked disappointed and upset towards us not being together and even through she knows I told Jess.

I opened my mouth to say something when Phil came running up to us, holding two bottles of ribena and a drink for Isabelle.

"Dan! They had different flavours of Ribena other than black currant!" Phil stated smiling, he's tongue sticking out and I rolled my eyes. In a way glad that Phil interrupted.

"Yeah, since 2010 Phil! It's been fifteen years!" I said and Phil laughed slightly.

"I don't pay attention! I never go outside and I've never seen it advertised on TV." Phil complained and I rolled my eyes but laughed over Phil arguing with me.
