Chapter 34: I won't Leave You're side

Dan's POV

I'm not thinking straight, Jess has gone into labour and is contracting. She's having our baby now! We're we ready?! I don't even know, I was so scared but I had to be there for Jess and support her.

It's just hard to wrap my brain around the fact that our baby is coming and she'll be here soon, a mixture of happiness and fear spread through my body.

I couldn't focus on that now though! I had to focus on helping Jess and the baby.

I held Jess's hands while getting the reception as Phil rushed behind us holding the bag after calling Becca and Tommy to tell them Jess was going into labour.

"Hello, I'm Jessie Maynard I'm going into labour." She panted and the reception lady typed in the information and getting up.

"Yes, you requested for a private room and we have one available. Please come with me, would you like to walk or a wheelchair." She asked and Jess shook her head.

"No thank you, I would like to walk." She said and the reception lady guided us to our room.

"You're the father I presume?" She asked and I nodded.

"Can I please have you're name?" She asked pulling out a sheet of paper.

"Daniel howell." I told her and Jess groaned in pain as her forehead was sweating slightly as she squeezed my hand.

"Okay thank you, the doctor will be in there shortly and please put on the hospital gown." She said as we thanked her and got into the room as Phil followed behind us.

I helped Jess put on the gown as she continued to groan in pain and helped her get into the bed.

"Dan, I'm so scared. What if something goes wrong!? I don't want the baby to get hurt, what if she d-"

"Woah woah, no that's not going to happen. Calm down, look at me. I'm right here. I'm gonna be with you this whole time. Don't worry everything's going to be fine, I promise." I told her and she smiled taking my hand and groaned in pain as she threw her head back into the pillow.

JoJo came in and smiled at us holding some paperwork, she looked tired and exhausted but still had a smile on her face as she grabbed a pen out of her pocket writing something down.

"Hello Dan, Jess. Bit early aren't we?" She asked and Jess let out a short breathy laugh and nodded.

"Well, apparently so. But she's ready." Jess said and JoJo nodded.

"Okay then, so I'm sorry but I need to check you're cervix to see how much you've dilated. Also if you want we can provide you with epidural or sound waves to ease the pain?" She asked putting a blue sheet up between Jess's legs as she shook her head.

"No thank you, I would like to do this naturally." She said which made my eyes widened in surprise and I stared at her.

"Jess, are you sure?" I asked her and she cupped my cheek with her hand.

"No it's okay, I really want to do this naturally." She told me truthfully and I sighed but nodded.

"Okay you've got a way to go, you're only dilated three. So call me if anything happens and I'll be back in an hour." JoJo said exiting and we thanked her.

Phil stood in the corner looking pale and swaying slightly like he was drunk.

"Phil, are you okay?" I asked and he shook his head slightly as his eyes were wide and he looked sick.
