Chapter 23: I Don't Understand

19th March 2017

Dan's POV

"So if I'm correct; calcium carbonate goes to calcium oxide and the it goes to carbon dioxide." Tommy said as Phil giggled and I gave him a confused look.

"I honestly have no idea what you are talking about!" I stated and Tommy laughed slightly as Phil looked up to the sky.

"Is this physics?" Phil asked and Tommy laughed shaking his head.

"No Phil, it's chemistry." Tommy said and Phil laughed poking his tongue out slightly.

"Tommy, why are you doing chemistry. We finished that stuff in Yr11, after our GCSE's." I told him and he sighed looking at me.

"Yeah I know, but I'm taking my courses at university and I need to redo my chemistry." He told him but I still gave him a confused look, "But, chemical reactions are secondary school wo-"

"I didn't do well in my GCSE's okay! Lest just leave it at that." Tommy said running his hands through his blonde, slightly curly hair as me and Phil laughed.

"Okay, okay. How are you and Becca doing?" I asked and he sighed heavily tapping his pen on the table.

"I don't even know anymore. I'm so confused right now, Becca's been going to the doctor a lot. And I cant give her a baby...........maybe I shouldn't be with her, she should be with someone who can give her a baby." He said sadly and Phil looked stunned and I was shocked towards what he said that I couldn't speak.

"No Tommy! Don't ever say that, Becca loves you and wants to be with you. Don't ever throw an amazing girl like Becca away. You may not have a baby yet, but you have each other. Be thankful towards what you have and not what you don't have!" Phil said rubbing his shoulder as Tommy managed a smile then shook his head.

"Phil you're right! I'm sorry for thinking that guys. I love Becca with all my heart and I know we'll have a kid someday." Tommy said positively as I smiled at him.

"You're a good guy Tommy. And a good husband, and I know you're gonna be a good dad." I told him and he smiled at me and nodded his head slightly pushing his glasses up his nose.

"Thanks Dan, thanks Phil." He said and we both hugged him and patted his shoulder in his shoulder in sympathy.

"You two will be alright." I told him and he nodded smiling.

"So back to chemistry. Can you guys answer this question...........?"

Phil decided to stay with Tommy and continue helping him with his chemistry for his university course as I decided to head back home and clean the apartment because it was a mess. I headed back home pulling the sleeves of my jacket down to my hands to insulate more warmth.

For a spring day it was freezing. I sighed and walked from Tommy and Becca's place back to our apartment.

Speaking of Becca. Where the hell was she?

I walked up the stairs (which felt like climbing up Everest to me.) huffing and puffing but I stopped at my tracks when I heard an unusual noise.
