This was my first day at Elementry high and I hated it. Who even likes school anyway?

'Are you going to dawdle around in your room all day Lolita or are you actually going to go to school' My Granddad shouted from downstairs.

'Yes paps!' I laughed. 'I'm just getting my shoes on'

'Just put the bloody shoes on' He murmed obviously loud enough for me to hear.

I laughed again.

I quickly tied the laces of my black doc martins and brushed down my clothes after standing back up. Before leaving I quickly took a last glance in the mirror. Yes, it is my first day. And yes, I know first impressions count blah blah. But lets just say I don't have many friends even if I do follow the 'trend'; whatever that is nowadays. I usually wouldn't bother to hide the black ink etched into my shoulder blades and wrists but the clothes I was wearing seemed to cover them themselves. My tattoos had sentimental value, I got them for a reason. I had about 20 tiny black birds scattered across my shoulder blades, and a small tree on my wrist. I had reasons for them, which most likely will become more obvious later on in my life.

I had long black hair that flowed down past my chest and a few centremeters above my belly button. It wasn't died but it sure as hell was extremely dark.

I was able to cover up the dark rings around my eyes and fill my eye lids in with a dark eye shadow and a thin layer of liquid eye liner.

By the description I just gave you, it sounds as if i'm some sort of emo but to be honest I don't look like one at all. I had lightly tanned skin and a nose ring but it was quite elegant if I say so myself.

I was only wearing some black leather leggings, with a white chiffon blouse and a tartan scarf. This was by far my favourite outfit. My granddad treated me to a shopping spree once I got back home from my dads. Well he obviously didn't take me shopping but he gave me a whole sumn of money to spend which I wasn't exactly hesitant on spending.

'I'll drop you at school if you want' he called from in the living room.

'No it's okay paps, i'll walk' I knew for well he couldn't drive. He hasn't driven for 5 years now. In fact he's very rarely got off the living room couch in weeks. I know he's growing weaker by the second, that's one of the reasons I left London where my dad lived so I could come live with my granddad in cheshire. And I've promised myself I wouldn't get into any sort of trouble this time round, it's like a second chance and I can't abuse this chance. He gave me a warm smile as I gave him a kiss on the cheek. 'So i'll be back around 4ish' I squeezed his hand and I crouched down in front of him so we were eye level. But he moved his hand away from my grasp and set it firmly on top of mine.

'Lolita, this is your first day! Don't rush back just for me, please.'

'But Gramps I don't know anybody round here' I laughed and sighed a deep breathe.

'Well that's what you're here for love, right?' He smiled and rubbed his warm wrinkly hand over my smaller one. 'Please' He whispered.

I nodded and kissed his forehead.

'Love you paps.' I didn't hear his reply because by now I was out the door and was heading up to the school. I didn't live far from school, a few roads away. So it would only take up to 10 minutes if I didn't stop or 'dawdle' as my gramps likes to say.

The gates to the school were extremely intimidating. Tall and sharp. I could immediately see the cliques dotted around the school premises.

I could see a few people sat on a bench, a few reading and writing. I'm not one to judge a book by it's cover but when I saw an apple being thrown at them by a girl at another bench, I could tell they were the 'nerds'.

I looked back to see the girl who threw the apple.

Wow, she was pretty. She had straight blonde hair that sat on her shoulders and she had a block fringe. Her make-up was evenly distributed. Not too much but still enough to give her colour on her distinctive cheek bones. She was wearing a cheerleading outfit along with about 10 other girls. So i'm guessing they were the cheerleaders of the school.

All pretty, all skinny, all got their footballer boyfriends at their sides. Then there was me, the new girl who didn't know anybody and dressed as if i'd just come back from a funeral!

The boys that lingered around by the school gates certainly caught my eye more than any others. They were all extremely good looking. There were about 10 of them i'm guessing, three of them being girls. The scary thing is that's usually the kind of friendship group I would gravitate towards but I need will power considering everything that happened in London!

I walked into school, I had already rung up reception a few days ago so my timetable had immediately been printed off and I already knew where to find my locker and what the combination was.

I was just stuffing the books I didn't need back in my locker when I heard a mumbeling coming from down the corridor. Shutting the locker I felt my heart jump out of my body as I saw one of the boys that were stood by the gate standing right next to me leaning on the locker. He had chesnut curls that were pushed back in a navy blue bandanna and his green eyes shone like there was no tomorrow.

'Hey' He lifted his head slighty as If to greet me. 'You're Lolita right'

'Lola' I corrected him. Yes technically my name was Lolita but my gramps was the only one who ever called me by that name, so to everybody else, it was just lola.

'Well hi there' He winked. 'I'm Harry'

I nodded as I picked my back up from by my feet. I caught sight of the boys sniggering behind him. A girl hit one of them on the shoulder and said something. Luckily I could read lips, she said something like 'Stop being mean'.

He picked up my bag before I could get there and held it in his hand, not offering it out towards me.

I tried grabbing it but he held it above his head out of my reach.

'I'm not going to jump if that's what you're angling towards' I kept a straight face. Goddamnit he was so goodlooking. His dimples really showing now.

'Go on a date with me' he looked deep into my eyes.

'Um i've only just met you?' I looked at him questioningly.

'But you're not like any other girls, you're different and-'

I cut him off.

'Is this supposed to be the part where the new girl stutters because the 'school reb' (insert hand gestures) is talking to her and then before you know it she falls hopelessly in love for the guy because she's so vulnerable and in a brand new enviroment. Then before she knows it he goes off and fucks the school whore and then she cries and does silly things, he comes back to her and they live happily ever after?'

I think I just summed the boy up because he hasn't spoken for at least 10 seconds, I think he's still processing whats just been said.

'Sorry to waste your time but you're quite frankly wasting your breath on a girl who has read the instructions too many times on how to play a game where she ends up loosing everytime. Thanks but no thanks.'

And with that I grabbed my bag hanging loosely in his hand and turned on my heels and walked away. Lets just hope he got the message.

After all, i'm much worse than him. No boy ever likes a girl who's worse than he is. He just doesn't realise it yet.
