Lola's POV
"We're ready gramps" I shout whilst running down the stairs with Harry trailing closely behind me. I can't really fathom what just went on. when he found my blades there was a mixture of anger and sadness from him and I'm not too sure which one would be worse. No one had ever confronted me about my cuts. Yes, people had seen them, but they just pretended they hadn't. I guess they do that to avoid the awkwardness but I think that's all I ever needed; someone to ask me why. I wouldn't necessarily answer, but it would just be nice to know that somebody out there actually cares, instead of feeling like you're all alone. 'lonely but not alone' my mum used to always say, I never knew what she meant though; until now anyway. I know that she suffered, just like I do. I guess depression is the side affect of someone falling out of love with you; my father for example. That's what happened To me aswell, Josh, my boyfriend from London fell out of love with me; but that's another story.
"Took your time" my Gramps answered as both Harry and myself entered the living room.
"Yes sorry, I couldn't decide what to wear" I shrug, knowing that my granddad will believe that as I always take ages to get ready.
"That's Lola for you" he speaks to Harry, slapping his arm playfully as he walks past us and into the kitchen.
"Harry do you think you could drive us?" I ask, tightening my ponytail in the mirror before grabbing my bag and opening the front door.
"Of course, where do you want to go?" he answers, placing his hands on my waist; lighter than usual I must say, and I know why. this is why I would never tell anybody about my cuts, because they would treat me differently. like I was fragile.
"There's this really cute italian place in town, it's so nice. Isn't that right Gramps?" I ask my granddad who is currently sat on the bottom step of the stairs, tying his shoe laces.
"Oh yes! There's this lovely boy that i've been trying to get Lola to talk to for ages, but she always says she likes someone else" He speaks, obviously completely oblivious to what he just said in front of my boyfriend! He doesn't even look up from his shoes so i'm guessing he has no clue. I feel Harry's body tense behind mine, reaching my hand out and grasping his gently in mine seems to calm him alot. I sigh before deciding to speak up.
"Come on, let's just go" I speak, defeatedly.

"You're right William, this is a lovely restaurant" Harry agrees from beside me. My granddad is sat opposite us both in the booth and nods at Harry's agreement.
"Does anyone want any dessert?" I ask, downing the last few sips of my apple juice. Both Harry and Gramps shake their head, no.
"No i'm okay thank Lo, shall we just get the bill?" He asks, placing his large hand on my knee and rubbing it in circles soothingly. I nod before trying to get a waiters attention that is currently facing the opposite way, but when he turns around to face us, I immediately regret it.
"Lola?" The blonde waiter asks as he approaches our table.
"Owen! It's been a while" My gramps speaks up from across the table and I feel Harry's touch on my knee immediately disappear. I try to grab his hand from under the table but he seems to have hidden it out of my reach.
"Yes, it certainly has, Sir. Lola you look beautiful tonight" Owen compliments, his blue eyes lingering on mine longer than usual. I blush slightly but not as much as I would if It was Harry. Speaking of Harry, I can practically see the vein popping out of his neck with anger. He quickly stands, causing the chair to scrape across the floor; catching a few people's attention, but they soon go back to their conversations.
"And you are?" Harry asks Owen, his prominent jaw clenched.
"I'm Owen, and you are?" The blonde asks innocently, oblivious to Harry's intentions.
"Harry, Lola's boyfriend" He answers bluntly, and I can practically hear Owen gulp from beside me. I can't help but feel proud that Harry called himself my boyfriend, I never thought he would be that type of person.
"Wow" Owen chuckles and I squeeze my eyes shut, knowing what's coming next.
"Wow? What the fuck is that supposed to mean, huh?" Harry speaks louder, taking a step towards Owen. People start to avert their attention to our table.
"Harry! Please" I whisper to him, quickly standing in front of his tensed body. His green eyes focusing on me and they immediately soften, aswell as his facial features. "It's you" I whisper, loud enough for only him to hear and grab his hand, gently running my thumb over his knuckles.
"Can we just go, please" He says quietly, holding my hand and kissing the back of it. I immediately nod.
"Owen can we just get the bill please?" I ask, quite impatiently. He sighs and does as I say. After paying, we don't even bother staying a second longer before all three of us walk out. I walk a bit slower with Gramps, Harry walking a few metres infront of us before he comes to an ubrupt halt and turns around.
"Look, sir. I'm so sorry about what happened back there" Harry speaks, looking my granddad straight in the eye. I didn't realise it was bothering him this much; but I'm guessing it is considering he's back to calling him 'sir'.
"Harry, son. You have nothing to worry about. After seeing what happened, I don't think you're a bad influence on Lola at all! In fact, it calms me to know that she's safe when she's with you. Harry, I don't judge people, please just be yourself around me and we'll get on perfectly!" He comforts him, shaking his hand in some manly greeting way/or an accepting way in this case.
"Thank you so much, sir!" Harry smiles, probably wider than I have ever seen him smile before. "You won't regret this. I'm going to make Lola the happiest girl on earth".
Oh, how wrong you were Harry.
