Los Angeles, CA 1984
As Michael's driver pulled into the gates of the Jackson Family compound, I noticed the gleam of a certain purple limo parked in the dark driveway. My eyes instantaneously bucked out.
"He can't be serious." I mumbled. "That's not him he's not that stupid."
Ok well he's not stupid but bold, very much so. How did he even get inside the gates of this place?
I put on a convincing smile as Michael took my hand and guided me towards the door.
"Hey babe uh...i'm gonna just stay outside for a few minutes, get some fresh air."
"Well I can stay with you, it'd kind of late-"
"No!" I cleared my throat to calm myself. "I'd rather be alone, y'know be one with myself."
I cut his eyes as if he didn't believe me. I groaned internally, I guess I was gonna have to start some shit. I put on my best bitch face and got to work.
"What? Is your mind so stuck in the 1950s a woman can't stay outside by her damn self, I can go places by myself Michael. I'll be ok, I don't need you to sit out here and watch me like i'm a fuckin-"
"Okay, okay!" He threw his hands up in defeat. "See you when you get inside."
I crossed my arms and pouted, eyeing him until he closed the door behind him. I went into immediate panic and scurried over to Prince's overly tinted window and knocked on it.
He rolled it down and glared at me. "You're gonna leave a mark, I just got these windows tinted."
I scrunched my face up at him, as if he isn't in my boyfriend's family's driveway half past midnight. "What the hell are you even doing here?!"
"I had a song idea and I needed you to come to the studio."
"A phone call would've been nice, dumbass."
"I did call, several times actually, you just never answered."
"How did you even know I was here?"
He snickered. "Naomi."
I couldn't even believe this was happening right now. "How did you even get into the gates?"
"Don't worry about all that, now come on."
I scoffed. "I can't just leave with you!"
He popped the door open. "All you have to do is step in." he rubbed the seat ext to him. "I just got the seats reupholstered."
I snickered as my my eyes darted between Prince's eyes and the front door. I threw my head back and groaned to the sky. "I can't stand you."
"Join the club.." he scooted to the side, letting me in.
Before I could fully adjust in my seat the limo had already whipped into reverse and sped out the driveway.
The drive was semi-awkward considering the fact that Prince was staring at me. I recrossed my legs in an attempt to break some of the tension. I finally got sick of it.
"The fuck are you doing?"
"Baby I want to communicate with you tonight with our minds"
I couldn't believe my ears, I had to put my hand over my mouth so I wouldn't burst out laughing.
"Look baby, I have got this thing for you. I am putting my waves out and I am putting them into you and I wanted us to connect through synergy".
"Ooooor... we could just talk."
