The sun beamed down on the pavement as Prince checked the ball to Brooks. "And after trying to let her in and show her that I care.. then she tells me to leave her alone for a while..."
Brooks squinted, genuinely intrigued but not surprised since Prince has been babbling to him about their relationship since the day Prince met her. "Hm and why is that?"
"I don't even know this time. I get in trouble over the simplest of things with her. She overreacts to everything. Honestly, I've had it with her, she throws tantrums and then plays victim when I get mad."
"Well maybe she's playing victim because she is a victim."
Prince rolled his eyes. "Oh please, you're over exaggerating." Granted she's been through a lot but so has he and he's yet to see himself as a victim.
"Or.." Brooks pause to try and shake Prince but he couldn't, he could never understand how Prince could play in heels. "... maybe you haven't owned up to your mistakes."
Prince was stunned. "How in the hell have I not owned up to my mistakes?"
"The girl..." Brooks took advantage of his vulnerable state and drove past him for a layup. "the girl was a sweetheart when you first met her am I correct?"
He rolled his eyes, half mad at the fact that he scored and half mad at the fact he called her a sweetheart. "Hardly, she hated me for the longest." Not to mention she was with Michael who ruined her sweet disposition every second.
"You knocked her down the stairs."
He gasped. "Why does she keep telling everybody that!?"
Brooks checked the ball back to Prince and got into a defensive position "You told me that."
Prince squinted. "Hmph...are you sure that was my word choice?"
"I believe your exact words were...'i'm pretty sure I paralyzed her from the waist down'."
He laughed, finally remembering there conversation at soundcheck. "That is something I would say isn't it.....well anyway," Prince drove to the basketball, stopping abruptly, causing Brooks to fly past him onto the concrete. "She's always reminds me of my mistakes...everyday. Every. Single. argument."
"Why am I being beaten by a grown man in heels?"
Prince scrunched his face up at him before swishing his shoot. "Step yo' game up bitch."
Brooks glared at him as Prince lent him a helping hand, he exhaled brushing the dust off the back of his pants. "And wouldn't it hurt you too knowing that someone you loved looked you in your eyes everyday and straight up lied to you."
Prince froze, his gaze shifting to the side.
"I mean think about it...she was in a horrible relationship before, couldn't trust him, she met you, thought you were different... then that whole thing happened with the engagement, lost trust in you. Where would that actually put a women's mind? Where would that put her mind?"
Brooks was someone he confided into about Jasmyn's battle with her mental disorder, Prince was never one to tell another's business but he didn't know how to help her. Brooks was always there for him.
