Kayla ends up staying the night at my house. We talk and gossip and eat the whole night. Eventually we fall asleep.
That was the first night I dreamed of Jack Steiner.
***
I was in a old barn. It was pitch black, the only light was the moon.
"Hello?" I say into the darkness, "is anyone there?"
I hear a low growling noise. Jack steps out into the moonlight.
"Run Rose!"
"What?" I say, confused.
"Run!"
Just then, a pack of wild dogs come up behind him and attack him. One takes a bite out of his shoulder, another in the leg and forearm.
"Jack!" I say frantically.
More dogs come from behind him and towards me, blocking my view of Jack.
I scream as they saunter forward to kill me.

I wake up, sweating. Kayla is still asleep next to me. I relax, it was just a dream, just a dream. I turn over, getting out of the sheets. I shake Kayla on the shoulder.
"Kake, it's 7 o'clock. I'm going to shower, you can go after me."
"Ok," she mumbles into my thick, fluffy pillow.
