"Oh, hey," Jack says to me, "It's Rose, right?"
"Um... yeah," I stutter, "Jack?"
"Yeah, that's me. What are you doing here?"
"I'm really good friends with Jessica," I say, "what are you doing here?"
"Jessica is a friend of a friend," he says like it's no big deal.
"Oh," I all I manage to say.
"Are you here with anybody?"
"Um... I was but I guess they left," I say, surprised.
"Oh," he says, "do you want to dance?" he asks me.
WHAT???
"Um... I... sure!" I say mustering a smile.
We dance, first to a upbeat song but then a slow song comes on.
He grabs me by the hips and pulls me close to him. Where did this come from?!
I put my small hands in the back of his neck and we sway together. It feels so nice to have his hands around me. I turn my face towards him, and I smile. He returns my smile.
Once the song is over, he asks me, "do you have a ride home tonight?"
"I did, but I don't know where they are," I say, ashamed that my best friend left me.
"I can take you home," he says quietly.
"Really? that would be great!"
"Okay! well, you wait outside, I will get my car and I will meet you in the front."
"Okay," I say with a huge smile.
He goes outside and walks down the sidewalk. I wait on the steps of Jessica's house.
It makes no sense to me, he never talks to me and then he meets me at a party and dances with me? who does that?
I brush it off, I'm grateful for his attention though.
A black stingray corvette pulls up in the front of Jessica's house.
Whoa, I wonder whose car that is. The tinted window rolls down and I see Jacks perfect face.
WHAT???
"Rose!" Jack calls.
"C-coming!" I shout.
I get in his car, it's bright illuminating lights stinging my eyes.
"Nice car," is all I say.
"Thanks" he says with a smirk.
I tell him where to turn and how to get to my house. Sadly, we eventually get to my house.
"Thank you for dropping me off at my house," I say.
"Oh, no problem Rose."
"Well I will see you on Monday in biology, right?"
"Of course," he says with white teeth, "but I was hoping we can meet up again... sometime... maybe... soon" he says nervously.
WHAT???
"I would love to! how about tomorrow?" I say, getting weak in the knees.
"Sure! what's your number?" he asks.
I tell him my cellphone number and he says, "okay, well, I will text you?"
"Sure," I respond.
We exchange goodbyes and I turn away and walk into my house.
