• "hey." he smiles, his paces stopping.
the boy looks up.
"is that josh?"
"yeah."
the brunet smiles to one side, raising an eyebrow. "good. wanna sit down?" he gestures with his hand.
awkwardly, josh pulls out a seat that was tucked under the metallic table, tyler taking his legs off from upon the table top and resting his feet flat on the floor.
"blackbear?"the red haired feels a grin form on his face, a slight giggle escaping, too.
"yeah. do you listen to him?"
"yeah, i used to. a lot. i don't as much, anymore, but he's definitely still one of my favourites."
"oh-"
"-the louder you listen to his music, the better. that's the truth."
josh bites his lip, nodding. the boy dressed in black starts to tap jittery onto this thigh; a swift rhythm, not the one drumming into joshua's ears.
reminding himself about the situation he was in, the oldest pauses his music and takes out his earphones, tucking both, his phone and earphones into his back jean pocket.
"do you listen to a lot of music?"
tyler stops, turning his head, as if he was looking at josh in the eye- although he knew that was probably not true, it still sent shivers down his spine.
"oh, boy, of course i do. the world has moved on from people like me. it gets boring. what else am i meant to do at home?"
a raven haired, middle age man places a lemonade of some sort onto their table, taking tyler off guard, making him jump a little. "gary? gary. gary, could you get my friend, here, a nice latte, please?-"before anyone else could speak, joshua cut them off. "n-no. i'm okay, thank you. i haven't got long."
tyler shrugs, holding the cup in his hand and taking a sip out of it. "aight, okay." the man who josh assumes is called gary nods understandably, and walks back into the building he emerged from. "'you got work to do? you don't have to sit here and talk to be if you've got something else to do, you know." he takes another slurp of his drink.
"n-no, it's not that. i'm meant to be meeting my friend brendon for lunch at mcdonald's in like ten minutes. it only takes five minutes from here to get there, and he's always late, so i thought it wouldn't hurt to say h-'hi.'"
tyler seemed almost like he hadn't been so happy in a long time. his cheeks were a red colour, his white teeth showing and caramel skin glowing. "oh. really? th-thanks. that's nice."
he clears his throat.
"s-so... uh, s-sorry if i'm wrong a-and offend you..." josh raises an eyebrow in suspicion "but a-re you and brendon like... t-together?"the red boy sighs, a small chuckle leaving his lips. "why would that offend me? but no, w-we are... are not anything more than best friends. i don't think he would date me or anything, anyway-"
"-but you would date him?"
josh chokes on air at the sudden question. "i-i... i don't know? relationships are basically friendships with kissing and flirting, right? but that's not the point. we're talking about him, not me."
the brunet giggles once more, biting his plump bottom lip in the process, josh couldn't read him as well as he read others. it was hard to figure out what tyler as feeling. "right, okay, yeah. i get your point. true." he seemed uncomfortable "well, you better go, now. enjoy your date."
dismissing himself, josh gets up from where he was sat, tucking his seat under the table, a scraping sound being exchanged as the legs abrade the floor. "thanks."
tyler scoffs
"-i-i mean... what? tyler, it's not a date."the boy sniggers, rubbing his eyes. "of course. bye."
"bye." josh begins to walk away, putting back on his earphones, but instead, this time, listening to some pale waves.
