I was still in shock. I didn't know what it was from: the fact that my daughter just confronted me, or the fact that I have no idea whatsoever of what to say to her next.
Hermione walked out of the room, muttering words I couldn't make out under her breath until she caught sight of me. None of us said anything to each other, making me more clueless of what to say to Autumn. I stood up, looking down at the couch for a moment, and walked to the dormitory.
Before I entered, I heard a short conversation.
"I haven't any idea of how Sapphire will get herself out of this." Hermione said.
"Either way, Autumn can tell us of any information that she will find out." Harry still had an angry tone to his usually calm voice.
"Look," Ron said, probably wanting to change the subject at this point, "it's the holidays! It's nearly Christmas! Let's - let's go down and see Hagrid. We haven't seen him in ages."
"No, Harry isn't supposed to leave the castle, Ron -" Hermione said sternly and quickly.
"Yeah, let's go, and I can ask him how come he never mentioned Black when he told me all about my parents!" Harry said.
Obviously, Ron did not have further discussion of Black in mind.
"Or we could have a game of chess or Gobstones. Percy left a set around here so-"
"No, let's go visit Hagrid." Was Harry's firm response.
As soon as they begin to leave, I knocked softly, knowing that I would enter either way.
"Go away." Autumn quickly choked out, causing me to sigh.
Once I walked inside, she turned her back to me and lied down on her bed.
"Autumn.."
"What?"
"You know I never meant to hurt you."
"Why did you never tell me? Do you think I can't keep a secret? Or I'm not worthy enough to know?"
"Of course you are, I just didn't tell you because I wanted to keep you safe. Besides, I thought you were going to be even more angry if you knew I am married to a so called killer."
"So called?? He is a killer! Have you read the Daily Prophet? There's a reason he is in Azkaban..or was, anyway."
"You don't understand. I knew that you wouldn't. You think what everybody else does, and I don't blame you, but he is innocent. I don't know if you want to believe me or not.."
"You're right. I don't believe you. I can't trust you as a mother anymore, because you haven't told me about this in the first place!"
"For a reason!! I told you the truth, and you have to be open to the truth! He's innocent, but I didn't tell you about any of this because I want to keep you safe!"
"If you loved me, you would tell me." Then, with a thick air of sarcasm, she said "it's just peachy that my parents don't love me."
"Where did you get that idea from?? I love you, so much. And Sirius loves you as well, probably more than he loves me."
I don't understand what got into me, but once I said that, a feeling softly burned inside me. A feeling I knew quite well, mixed with something else - anger.
"Really?" For a moment, her eyes softened, until they twinkled again. "Or are you just lying to me again?"

Sirius's POV [I know, people. squeal squeal, am I right?]
In animagus form, I ran from 12 Grimmauld Place, the Black family home, and towards - well - wherever "the wind takes me," as James had once said, causing me to laugh like an idiot. It made me laugh now as well, but I stopped myself so that I can look more like a real dog, rather than a person. If anybody figures out that it's me, I would be in an enormous heap of trouble, and that's an understatement.
Remembering James sprang tears to my eyes, but I quickly blinked to stop thinking about it.
I'm a man.
Men don't cry.
Lord, I am going mad.
I tried to remember a happy memory, and the only flashback that came to mind was Sapphire. And that day with the tree. In potions, I dropped the cauldron on her and she ran out. It tugged at my memory.
"Prongs, did you SEE her reaction?!" I laughing uncontrollably. James nodded with a smirk.
"That was hilarious and well thought-out, Padfoot." Remus laughed with us.
"Yeah, Sirius. Well, let's figure out who did that prank." Pettigrew squeaked out.
"Riiiiight. So, who could it have been? The initials are definitely S.E." James stated the obvious points.
"We can eliminate the girls. No girl could ever do a prank like this. This is too awesome of a prank for a girl to pull." Remus said, with a finger on his chin.
"We'll figure this out later. Let's check where Sap is, shall we?" I asked.
"I solemnly swear that I am up to no good." James opened the map up after all the words have appeared.
"Woah, where is she?" I looked up and saw her, looking beautiful, or horrible as I thought back then, as ever.
"Oh. Hello, worthless." James said.
"Surprise?" Sapphire went slowly down the tree.
"Ow." She groaned.
"Let's push her to the Whomping Willow." Peter says.
I was brought out of my thoughts for a moment. I could see now how immature we were, and how completely rude to someone as pure as Sapphire. I remembered what happened after.
To finish everything off, Wormtail leaned in to slap her. She pushed his hand back. I was super confused. She stood up. "WHY DON'T YOU EVER STOP?" she began to scream. She never screams. "WHY DO YOU BULLY ME ALL THE TIME? DID I EVER DO SOMETHING TO YOU? YOU PUSH ME DOWN EVERY MINUTE OF EVERY DAY. LET ME STAND BACK UP AGAIN! YOU SEE ALL THESE BRUISES?" she said, gesturing to her body. "THIS IS WHAT YOU'VE DONE TO ME FOR THE PAST FOUR STINKIN' YEARS! I hope you feel good about yourselves, see if I care." she finished. I realized something. She played the prank on us. S.E. are her initials. I grabbed her by the hand before she left. She snapped at me and I asked her if she did this, pointing to the stamp on my forehead that is slowly fading away."Oh yeah? Well...as we're asking questions here, why didn't you throw my guitar at me that day on the train?" I was speechless. I didn't know the answer to that. She smirked and walked back to Hogwarts.
I knew the answer to that question now. I loved her, and I still do. Except, I didn't know it before.
Why is life so unfair?
Why do we have to be so far apart right now?
At least now I know just where exactly the "wind is taking me."
Hogwarts.
