"You guys need to get over it and just talk to each other," Liam said to me.

I exhaled as I curled the barbell. "He's the one acting immature about it. Maybe the bloke isn't ready to be a dad," I replied.

Liam rolled his eyes. "He's stressed out, Harry. What if you were in his shoes?"

My arm with the barbell dropped. All I could think of at that moment was Sam announcing a pregnancy to me. Yes, it'd be soon—way too soon, but I'd be excited. I'd be happy. That's what I explained to Liam.

"Yeah, but you're in love with her. It's different."

I shrugged one shoulder and continued curling. "It would be different, but it's still his kid, Liam."

                  "Probably his kid," Liam pointed.

"Okay, probably his kid. Either way, that girl deserves support from him. It takes two people to make a baby."

I put down the barbell and swiped my forehead with the back of my hand, taking the bottled water that Liam handed to me. "Just talk to him. That's all I ask, that's all Niall and I ask. The tension is weird and it's never lasted this long between any of us."

"Okay, I'll talk to him if it makes you shut up," I teased.

Liam slapped me on the back as we left the hotel gym. "Point taken," he replied.

Louis answered the door to his hotel room looking a bit surprised but annoyed. "What?" he asked, crossing his arms.

I ran a hand through my hair, tussling my bangs to the side. "Can we talk?"

He didn't say anything, but instead stepped out of the way so I could walk in. He shut the door behind him and we took a seat across from each other in the small den.

I rubbed my palms together. "I'm not going to apologize," I began. "I meant what I said." He cocked an eyebrow. "I've known you for five years and it feels like forever. You're my brother, Louis. I know you and I know you're going to make a great dad. That is, if it's your child."

Louis wasn't looking at me, but at the floor. He still didn't speak, so I continued. "I know it's sudden and believe me, it's sudden for everyone. But you're going to regret it if you don't move forward with this. What's a few thousand dollars in exchange for a relationship with your child?"
