While in the van with the boys, we talked and joked the entire way except for Zayn who kept his head down while listening to music. The air in the van felt stiff with his gloomy presence but we didn't focus on it. This two-week break would be good for him before tour.

"I'm already liking our assistant. She's not fawning all over us like some of the past ones," Liam commented from the row behind me.

Louis smirked. "Yeah, and she's not bad to look at, either."

Niall reached across me and shoved him. "Back off, mate. You've got a girlfriend. Give some of us a chance."

I chuckled and looked between the two of them. "So you think she's cute?" I asked.

"Don't you?" Liam replied.

I just smirked and shrugged my shoulders. Louis laughed and slapped his hand on my shoulder, shaking it. "You cheeky little shit. You've got a crush."

Gaping at him, I shook my head. "I barely know the girl."

"I see the way you make eyes at her," Niall added onto the boys' banter.

"Oh, shut up," I sighed with a smile. We pulled up to JFK airport and already there were paparazzi and fans waiting outside. That would explain that small amount at the hotel earlier. Security got out of the car in front of us and cleared a path. Niall went out first and I followed with Louis, Liam, and Zayn trailing behind.

Vivian, Lou, Caroline, and Sam got out just as we started heading to the front doors. I glanced back at Sam who had her carry-on bag slung over her shoulder, an expressionless look on her face as she made her way through the tight opening between the hysteria.

When we reached the entrance, airport security greeted us and escorted us to the area to wait for our personal shuttle to the jet. Sam dropped her bag by the door. "Anything I can get you boys before the plane arrives?" she asked.

We all looked amongst each other and shrugged, shaking our heads. "Nothing we can think of," Liam replied. She gave him a small smile and took a seat on the cushioned chair across from the couch Louis and I were lounging on.

"Are you liking your job so far?" Niall asked her, shoving his phone in his pocket.

She perked up at his voice and smiled. "It's been fine so far. I'm excited to travel with you guys."

"You're going to love it," Louis replied. "And don't forget, you're part of the family now. I know that technically you're supposed to do things for us, but the boys and I will do anything for you, too."

Her smile grew and she flushed. She wasn't expecting us to be so understanding or nice. "Thank you, Louis. That means a lot."

Vivian poked her head in, signaling us to stand with her hand. "Plane's here. Let's go."
