Rose was trying to find a way to kind of corner her mom (Lexa) to talk about what just happened so she waited for what seemed like hours until Lexa started walking to pick some flowers from a nearby bush that was filled with vibrant colors.
"Mom, I know what you just saw isn't or wasn't what you were hoping would happen to me so young, but-" Lexa laughed breaking the conversation.
"Rosie, I'm going to go ahead and stop you. You know I'm very accepting of Jade and I know that you both like each other. You don't need to explain yourself to me about this. Although, I haven't told your mother yet, Rose. I think it would be better if you did." Lexa ruffled with her daughters hair before walking back to her family that was setting up a picnic.
"She's going to eat me alive, but I have to do this. She has to understand." Rose spoke only to herself.
"Here's some flowers, babe. I figured a center piece would be a bit charming and here's some for you, Becca." Lexa handed the load of beautiful flowers to the girls.
"You see that, kids. Chivalry is not dead." Clarke kissed Lexa leaving a trace of lipgloss and her wife's lips.
"You should never stop trying to impress the one you love. No matter how long you've known each other. Always keep the flame alive." Lexa looked at Clarke a certain way that gave the kids chills by how obvious it was in her eyes how much Clarke meant to her. "I love you."
"I love you." Clarke smiled.
"Well okay. Twins do you want to go put our toes in the water?" Jade laughed.
"Okay fine, anymore love and I'll scar our kids forever." Lexa whispered to Clarke. "I'll go with you, kids."
All that was left was Clarke fixing up the packed lunches with Rosie coming to sit on the same large picnic blanket.
"You don't want to go with your mom and the kids, Rosemary?" Clarke said well taking the crust off of Lexa's and Adens sandwich bread.
"Maybe later. I actually wanted to talk to you first. If that's okay?" Rose started to get fidgety and Clarke noticed.
"Rosemary Woods, what's going on?"
"When was it that you realized you wanted to marry, mom(Lexa)?" Rose looked up to a shocked Clarke.
"Rose, please don't tell me you're already thinking about marriage! I will ship you off to freaking boarding school."
"Mom... no, I'm not. I just want to know."
"Oh thank god. Please warn me 10 years in advance before you think about getting married or else I'll have a heart attack."
"Well then, mom I'm gonna propose to Jade... What? You said to warn you 10 years in advance. I'll be in my twenties by then." Rose joked.
"Very funny."
"But seriously. What did mom do to make you want to propose to her?"
"I'm not sure. I just knew that she was everything I ever wanted. Before anyone should propose I think you should imagine your life without them. If you can't then you know they're the one. I on the other hand lost Lexa multiple times and each time my heart broke more and more so I knew what it was like to not have her. I never wanted to feel that way again. So I married her."
"I kissed Jade!" Rose blurted.
"What?"
"I wish I could say that I'm sorry. I wish I could say that I would take it back, but mom! The truth is I love her and if I'm being totally honest I wouldn't mind kissing her again. She loves me, mom. She told me. I know you think we are just kids and that none of this matters, but it does. It matters so much knowing that someone as amazing as Jade could love someone as broken as me." Rose didn't cry or even shed a tear. She wanted to be taken seriously. In her eyes a child cries not an adult.
