Umbridge had started interrogating people. It was your turn.

"Hello (y/n), would you like something to drink?" Umbridge asks sweetly.

"No thanks." You say shortly, and take a seat without being asked.

"I insist. Tea? Pumpkin juice?" She says, and behind her cruel eyes you see a bit of insanity.

"No, really." You insist.

But she hands you a cup of tea.

You knew something was up, so you didn't touch it.

"Drink." She says, sitting behind her desk. You glance at her skeptically.

"I'm really not thirsty." You argue. You can see she's on the verge of screaming.

"You're being awfully rude!" She shrieks. You look behind her to see a small glass bottle with clear liquid. And you recognize it immediately.

"That's veritaserum! You can't use that on students!" You scold. She looks at you in panic.

"Why aren't you clever." She says finally, and you see her reach for her wand, but you're faster.

"Obliviate!" She shrieks.

"Expelliarmus!" You say before she's finished. Her wand flies into your hand.

"Give me my wand!" She says. You shake your head.

"I'm telling Dumbledore." You say. You storm out of the room with her wand still in your hand.

"Professor Dumbledore!" You knock on the door to his office.

"Yes Miss (l/n)?" You hear. You turn around and see that he had been behind you. Creepy.

"Umbridge tried to give me Veritaserum!" You exclaim. Dumbledore doesn't seem surprised. Suddenly you hear an explosion, and leave Dumbledore to go see what was going on.

There was Umbridge, looking triumphant in the remains of what used to be the room of requirement. Next to her was a crying Cho, and Harry was glaring at her.

"What happened?" You ask Hermione.

"Cho told Umbridge." She says hatefully.

"It wasn't her fault, Umbridge had Veritaserum!" You exclaim to everyone. Cho gives you a thankful look.

Umbridge sent everyone back to the common rooms.

"Wait... Not you Harry and (y/n)." she stopped you, and dragged you both to Dumbledore's office.

Dumbledore ended up taking responsibility for the whole thing, and then when the Ministry tried to arrest him, he disappeared, which sadly made Umbridge the new headmaster.

Umbridge had given you detention every day for the rest of the school year for "not holding your tongue."

She forced you to write with that cursed quill every day, reopening the wounds. It hurt worse every time.

You'd walk back to your common room every night trying to hold back tears, and one night, you were unsuccessful.

You stopped walking and sat down against the wall. The tears started flooding, and soon it led to sobs. Your hand was shaking, making the wound hurt even worse. You watched through blurred vision as the blood pooled , then started to drip.

I must hold my tongue.

All you wanted to do was find Harry. But it seemed that Umbridge's message had finally kicked in.

I must hold my tongue.

You thought about finding Professor McGonagall, who was the only one that would stand up to Umbridge. But again you couldn't do it.

The blood had now made a pool on the floor.  It wasn't large, but it scared you.

"(Y/n)?" You heard a panicked voice. You looked up through your tears to see the one and only Harry Potter. You're sobs didn't stop.

"Why is it bleeding? I thought we took care of that ages ago!" He said, kneeling in front of you. You didn't say anything.

"She gave you more detentions? Why you and not me?" He said, and as he spoke, he pulled out a handkerchief and wrapped it around your hand gently.

"W-why do you have that?" You speak finally.

"I always have one, for the younger kids that are unfortunate enough to get detention as well." He smiles sadly. You nod.

He sits next to you silence for a while. It was probably an odd sight, the two of you on the floor in the middle of a hallway, bloodstains on the floor.

"Thank you." You choke out. He nods.

"How long has she been giving you detention?" He asks. You sigh.

"Since Dumbledore left. And I have them until the end of the year." You say. He clenches his jaw.

"But everyone else was part of the DA. Why do none of them have detention?" He asks.

"I almost got her in trouble. I told Dumbledore about the Veritaserum, but Cho told her about the DA before we could do anything." You say. It suddenly grows quiet at the mention of Cho.

"It's brilliant that you found out. I wonder if Hermione would have, had she got her turn." He says. You shrug and say nothing.

"I broke up with Cho." He blurts out suddenly. You look up at him.

"Why? It wasn't her fault." You say, then scold yourself for sticking up for her. Sometimes you were too nice.

Harry smiles.

"No, but she's not as brilliant or gorgeous as another Ravenclaw I know." He smiles at you. You groan internally. Another girl?

"What's her name? Maybe I could put a good word in." You say sadly. Harry laughs.

"Maybe not so brilliant. It's you." He says. You blush madly and avoid his gaze.

"Oh." You say simply. He frowns.

"What's wrong?" He asks.

"You need to make up your mind." You say. He looks at you, confused.

"What?"

"You said you liked me before, the got angry because of Malfoy. And then we tried again, and you got angry and changed your mind because of a simple mistake." You say, finally looking at him.

"But notice how I keep coming back to you. I know, my anger in both cases was unreasonable. I haven't really been in control of my emotions at all this year. And I'm sorry. But this time I'll stick with you." He says, reaching out for your hand.

"I don't believe you." You say. He sighs.

"How can I prove it to you then?" He begs. You think for a moment.

"Don't let your anger get the best of you until summer break. Then I will believe you." You say.

"But that's so long..." He smirks. You laugh.

"It should be worth it." You tease. He smiles, then you both stand up.

"Okay then. We have a deal. I don't get angry, and you date me." He smiles cheekily.

"Yes." You confirm, then say goodnight and walk back to the common room.
