Chapter 13

At school, the next day, (y/n) and I were holding hands as we walked to school together. I was happy that (y/n) was mine. I was excited to know let my friends know that we were now a couple.

(y/n) was mumbling something to herself and it had me kind of worried.

"Are you ok?" I asked her.

"The other half wants out. She said that this,"-she lifted our intertwined hands-, "is bad for her, that it makes her look weak."

"You know, I still don't understand how that's even possible. I never heard of something like that happening at all."

"Yeah, well... I guess some things can't be explained." she said kind of sadly. Once in front of the school doors, she put on the brightest smile ever. It was like she had never experienced sadness before. I knew something was bothering her, but should I ask about it or leave it alone?

Sam and Tucker were waiting for me right at the doors of the school. Tucker smiled and waved. I don't think he noticed (y/n) and I were holding hands. Sam did. Then she left.

"Danny! Whats up?"

"Well, I saw Sam and she left. Is she ok?"

"I don't know, man. She just left." Then he finally saw it. "Are you two--?"

"Yeah, we are." I said. The bell rang and we all headed for class. I didn't see Sam most of the day and when I did, she turned on her heels and walked the other way.  During lunch, she had no other choice but to sit with us, since we were her only friends. It was kind of quiet throughout lunch.

"So, we have an announcement to make." I cleared my throat before continuing. "(y/n) and I are officially dating." (y/n) sat next to me smiling awkwardly.

"Did I hear that right?" someone said from behind. "Geek is dating (y/n)?" he laughed. "Hey, (y/n), you tell awesome stories and your pretty cool, why don't you sit with us?"

"Yeah... no. Why would I want to sit next to someone who shoved me in a locker and bullies me all the time?!" This was probably her tougher self talking. I doubt she'd be able to stand up to Dash without a little help. Just then she gasped and pulled me aside.

"There's a ghost."

"But my ghost sense didn't go off."

"Mine did. And trust me, I have way better senses." She transformed and flew around to find the ghost. I followed her. When we didn't find anything we transformed back from to our human selves-- well, I did, a least.

"What's going on?" she said dumbfounded. "I could've sworn there was a ghost."

"(y/n) come on. Maybe it was a false alarm."

"That's not my name, Fenten! And it couldn't have been. I'm never wrong. I'm give it one more sweep." Love, as she liked to be called, tries to phase through the wall but instead just smacked her face into it.

"No, no, no!" she cried out.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"I'm fading away." I had no idea what she meant, but soon she fell to the floor. She couldn't fly anymore. "This is happening too fast. You can't do this to me! Without me, you're nothing but a wimp!" I assumed she was talking to (y/n), so I didn't bother stepping in.  Finally she transformed back to her normal human self.

"Danny," she said, "what's happening to me?"

"I have no idea, but I think I know someone that could help and isn't obsessed with hunting ghosts." I held her hand and flew to Vlad's place. He was the only other person that I knew that was't a moron and was half-ghost himself.

(A/n: sorry its short... and if it kind of sucked)
