Lissa dragged me across the quad, her flats making flapping noises as she walked. People starred at us as we walked down the long stone path. I assume it was because Lissa was dressed rather nicely with her flower print skirt light blouse and flats. Her hair perfectly curled and her lips stained with a light pink lips gloss. I on the other hand could barely motivate myself to put in a thin layer of mascara. Oops.
We turned the corner and headed to the back of the school which was a huge field filled with trees and picnic tables. Okay so this side of the school looks less prison-y. Lissa lead me over to a picnic table with a blonde girl and guy sitting on one side of the bench while a brunette which I recognized as jake, sat on the table facing them. When we weren't too far away from the table the blonde girl sprung out of her seat when she saw us. I almost flinched when she came towards us. Lissa smiled at her and I put on a small smile. The blonde girl was wrapped up in a winter coat with leggings underneath. Her hair was in little bouncy ringlets.
We she reached the table she smiled at me. "It's Addi right?" She asked pulling me into a hug. "It's so nice to meet you." I awkwardly returned the hug. She stepped back from the hug and stuck out her hand for me to shake. "I'm lily." She introduced herself. I took her hand and smiled at her. Lissa turned to the other blonde, which I now know is the twin brother to lily, Marcus, and Jake. I could feel the cold air turn my already pink cheeks pinker as well as the tip of my nose.
"Marcus this is my cousin Addi. The One I told you about." Marcus got out of his seat and stood in front of me.
"Well aren't you adorable" he cooed at he tapped his finer to my nose. I crinkled my nose at his nose-booping. "So Canada eh? Did you have to leave behind a pet moose." He laughed at his own horrible joke. I started at him blankly, then flicked him in the forehead. He was surprised by my action.
"First impressions are very important and you sir have just blown it." Everyone snickered as Marcus pouted at me. Lissa patted his head like he was a dog. He grinned at her and she giggled.
"Oh and Jake you obviously remember Addi." Lissa exclaimed. Jake and I made eye contact and he got up from the table. He smiled at me brightly. Jake stood right in front of me looking down sense I was quite a bit shorter than him. He appeared to be around 5'10 where I was only 5'3.
"How could I forget. I scared her shitless the first time we met." Jake laughed and lily grinned.
"Probably with that hideous face of yours." She teased. Jake frowned.
"Hey that's what I was gonna say!" Marcus complained. Twin telepathy perhaps? My mother would have thought so. I listened to the twins bickering and laughed when they insulted each other. I was pretty okay so far but the day hadn't even begun. When the bell rang I felt my stomach drop. First period I had science my least favourite, and worst subject. I used to find it interesting but now I just can't seem to find it interesting which makes it hard to be good at it. I'm sure that's okay though, what I want to do with my life won't require anything to do with science. Lucky me.
Marcus helped me find my locker sense we had first period together. I didn't talk much it was mostly him blabbing on about how much I'm going to love it here, how good of friends were going to be, and the football teams latest win, which was two weeks ago. Yeah, the football team here isn't doing too well this year. Marcus is the quarter back and Jake is the wide end receiver. I had no idea what that all meant. The only sport I ever really pay attention to is hockey but that's only because my dad liked it and I wanted to share something with him.
"Lissa was right. You really don't talk very much do you?" Marcus noticed. I shrugged.
"I can be very talkative if I want to be. But I don't." I explained.
When we reached the science lab it was pretty much full just a few seats missing, one being the teachers. I gulped nervously at the sight of the large bottles of chemicals. Sensing my nervousness Marcus wrapped his arm around my shoulder and flashed me a smile.
"Relax babe you've got nothing to worry about." I scrunched my nose at the 'babe' comment but Marcus didn't seem to notice. I decided it would be best to sit at the back of the class in hopes that no one would notice i was new. I mean why cause any trouble in having to introduce me when we could all just shut up and listen to the teacher talk effortlessly.
I sat at the back in an empty seat next to a red head. She was nicely dressed like Lissa was. She was starred at her phone aimlessly looking very bored. Well until I sat down. If I would have known what sitting there would have caused me in the future, I probably would have jumped out of the second story window than sit with her. But alas not all of us are lucky enough to have time traveling selves from the future to save them from whatever kind of demon she is.
I sat down next to the red head and she immediately looked up at me. I smiled politely like I'd been doing all day which caused my face to cramp, and it was barely eight thirty.
"Are you new?" The girl asked.
"Yeah but we don't need to tell the teacher i don't want-" and just as luck would have it a frumpy man walked in the class and that little witch screamed to him at the front of the class. "Mr. Brunner we have a knew student. I think she should introduce her self to class." And that was just the beginning.
