I walk out of the change room and see Jay sitting on the edge of the ring, taping his hands. I smile at him and take a seat beside him. I then begin to tape my hands as well. I smile at the familiarity of it and then Jay says, "Wow, you even tape your hands like a pro."
I laugh at that and reply, "I've had just a few years of practice."
He chuckles and stands. I finish taping my hands quickly and slip on my gloves. Once I've got them just how I like them I do my usual warmup and stretch. After that's done I walk over to the punching bags and watch Jay do a combo. When he finishes I step towards him and say, "Can I give you a couple tips?"
He nods so I say, "You need to bounce around more. If you were actually kickboxing against someone you wouldn't have time to respond and attack fast enough. Your feet need to be like springs. Also, try not to make fists. Only do that if you're going to punch someone. Otherwise, you want your fingers open. You never know when you'll be able to score a point with something other than a punch or kick."
Jay nods and is about to do another combo when Antonio comes over and says, "What's going on here?"
Smirking, Jay turns towards Antonio and says, "Evelyn decided to join me today for my session so she was just fixing my form."
Antonio nods approvingly and then turns to me and says, "If you think you have some skill, why don't you show us a combo or something?"
I nod in agreement, accepting the challenge that Antonio didn't do a very good job of hiding. Jay moves out of my way and I step closer to the bag. I then begin my absolute favourite combo, which also happens to be one of the hardest ones to learn and then do. As I do it I can't help but smile at just how natural all of this is for me.
When I finish I turn to face the guys and see them both staring at me in shock. I smile and then Jay says, "Wow, I was not expecting that to say the least. You're incredible."
I thank him and then we continue to train. After another hour Jay looks pretty tired so I suggest that we call it a day. He agrees so we head towards the change rooms. We're about to go our separate ways when he turns back to me and says, "Would you be interested in making this a regular thing? I'm usually here every day after work."
I smile and say, "I'd love that. I really enjoyed today. It was great putting the gloves back on after a few years."
Jay smiles and then we part ways. I shower, change, and make my way home.

Hey guys! Thanks for being patient and for 12 600 reads!
I got my laptop issues figured out and I also got my stories off of it so that if my laptop acts up again it won't mean that I can't update.
So I don't personally kick box but my sister's karate instructor teaches it and one of my best friend kick boxes so they helped me out with that aspect of it as best as they could. I apologize in advance if some of the kickboxing material is incorrect. -Becca
