Chapter 4: Two losses in one day

Ash's POV

"So, you're ready to challenge me again, Ash?" Wulfric asked. I nodded at him and gave him a determined smiled. "You bet, Wulfric. And this time, I'm gonna win that badge for sure!" I shouted. Wulfric smirked at me, "now that's the spirit! Let's do this then." He said.

"Battle begin!" The referee announced.

"I lost again.." I said in disappointment. We were all back in the Pokemon center sitting around the fireplace. Serena came up to me and sat next to me with hot cocoa in her hand while Bonnie and Clemont sat down on one of the couches next to us. I looked around for Dawn but she was no where in sight.

"Hey guys? Where's Dawn?" I asked them.

"Huh? Dawn? I was sure I saw her a minute ago." said Clemont.

"Yeah, me too." said Bonnie.

I looked down at the ground, "I think I know why she's not here. I said that her ribbon was a good luck charm and she's probably disappointed in me." I said sadly. "Oh, Ash.." Serena said hugging me.

I didn't wanna be here... I wanted to be.. alone..

"I need to be alone for a minute.." I said getting up from my seat. Before I walked out the Pokemon center, Serena grabbed onto my hand and told me to stay and talk to her.

"Sorry, Serena. I really wanna be alone right now." I said walking out of the Pokemon Center and into the Winding Woods.

"Ash, wait!"

Dawn's POV

"I think I know why she's not here. I said that her ribbon was a good luck and she's probably disappointed in me." I heard Ash say, a little sadness in his voice.

"Oh, Ash..." Serena said, I assume trying to comfort him.

I stood in the hallway of the Pokemon center while the four of them sat around the fireplace. I couldn't be there right now because for some reason.. Seeing Ash and Serena together made me feel.. sad.

I looked down at the ground.

Why was I feeling this way? I didn't like Ash like that... But, why do I feel so sad when I see him with Serena?

"Ash, wait!" I heard Serena shout. I assumed Ash walked out of the Pokemon center to be alone. It was the same thing he did after he was defeated by Paul. Instead of thinking, I grabbed my winter coat and ran out the Pokemon center after Ash.

Serena's POV

"Hey, was that Dawn just now?" Bonnie asked. "I'm sure it was." Clemont said. I clenched my fists and suddenly became angry.
