Chapter 8: A talk with Drew

Ash's POV

After Serena and I finished shopping we made our way back to the Pokemon center and were greeted by our friends.

"Aww! You guys went shopping!? I wanted to go too!" Bonnie exclaimed.

"Don't be rude, Bonnie. They wanted to spend some time together." Clemont told her. "Right, guys?"

Serena smiled happily while I just looked away from them. Not really..

I went back outside to train with my Pokemon some more and prepare myself to battle Wulfric again. So, after a few more rounds of special training, I felt like we were ready. I returned everyone into their pokeballs, except Pikachu of course, and went back into the Pokemon center.

"Today's the day guys. I'm definitely gonna win that gym badge!" I said confidently.

"That's great! We'll be there to cheer you on!" Serena said as she gave me a peck on the cheek.

"Let's go then!" Clemont shouted as we all ran out the Pokemon center and made our way towards Snowbelle gym.

"I see you're back to challenge me again, Ash. Are you sure you have what it takes to beat me this time?" Wulfric asked.

"You bet, Wulfric. That gym badge is as good as mine." I told him.

"Then let's get started then." He smirked.

I pulled out one of my pokeballs and grinned over at Wulfric. "Greninja, I choose you!"

Skipping the battle because meh :D Ash won!

"Abomasnow is unable to battle and Pikachu is the winner! So the victory goes to Ash Ketchum!" The referee announced.

"Pika pi!" Pikachu jumped up on me and we both started cheering together. "We did it, buddy! We beat the Snowbelle gym!" I looked over at Wulfric who returned Abomasnow into it's pokeball. He then walked up to me and smiled.

"That was an amazing battle, Ash. No doubt. You truly deserve this badge." As he said that, the referee walked up to me with the iceberg badge. He then gave it to me and I smiled in triumph.

"Yeah! I just won the iceberg badge!" I said happily.

"Good luck in the Kalos league, Ash." Wulfric smiled.

"Thanks!"

We made our way back to the Pokemon center. I was happy that I had finally won my 8th and final Kalos badge that I couldn't stop smiling.

"I'm gonna make us a celebration dinner in honor of Ash's victory!" Serena smiled. "I wanna help too! How about you Pikachu?" Bonnie asked. Pikachu nodded happily as they both followed Serena into the kitchen.

"Thanks guys. What about you, Clemont?" I asked. "I'm gonna go finish up my new invention. See ya." He said leaving.

Hmmm.. Guess that just leaves me for now. I know! I'll call up Dawn and tell her I won.

I then ran up to one of the video phones and stood there thinking for awhile. Let's see.. If Dawn was in Lilycove before she came here, that means she competed in her last contest. So she's probably in Slateport city for the grand festival. 

I called up the Pokemon center in Slateport city to see Nurse Joy smiling at me. "May I help you?"

"Yes, I'm looking for Dawn."

"Oh yes, one moment please." She said as she disappeared from the video screen.

In Slateport city

"Excuse me, Drew. Is Dawn here?" I looked behind me to see Nurse Joy.

"Huh? Dawn? No, she went out for a bit. Why?" I asked her.

"A boy named Ash Ketchum wants to speak with her." She said.

"Ash Ketchum, huh? Is it okay if I talk to him first?" She nodded her head at me as I proceeded towards the video phone.

"Drew?" He looked at me surprised.

"What do you want, Ketchum?" I asked him as I tried my best to hold back my temper.

"Where's Dawn?" He asked. "Dawn isn't here. She went out for a bit."

He avoided my gaze and I smirked. "Listen, Ash. Why don't you just leave her alone?"

Back with Ash

"Listen, Ash. Why don't you just leave her alone?"

My eyes widened at the him and I began to clench my fist. "What did you just say?"

"She doesn't need to be hurt by you again. So just leave her alone." Now I was angry.

"Shut up! What do you know!?" I shouted.

"I'm her best friend. I know almost everything about her!"

"No! You don't! You don't know anything about Dawn! You don't know about her dreams or anything!! I've known her longer than you!" I shouted angrily.

"If you really knew Dawn, you'd know about her feelings for you wouldn't you!?" He shouted.

I stopped. Right then and there, my anger turned to sadness and I stood there with my shoulders slouched as I looked down at the ground sadly.

"That's what I thought." Drew said.

"I.. I'm sorry I just.." I couldn't even find the right words.

"Ash, don't. If you wanna apologize, do it to Dawn. Not me." He said. "I'm sorry for getting mad it's just.. Dawn's my best friend. I don't want her getting hurt twice."

I shook my head. "Yeah.. You're right. I'm gonna apologize to her." I said.

"Alright well.. I gotta go. Take care, Ash.

"Wait, before you do, could you tell her I won my 8th and final badge?" I asked him. "Will do." 

We both hanged up the video phone. 

I'm gonna apologize to Dawn.. I'll make things right this time.

I walked up to the front desk to talk with Nurse Joy. "Nurse Joy, can you book me a flight to Slateport city?" I asked her.
