Chapter 19: Good-bye, Serena!

Ash's POV

After the battle, we made our way towards the Pokemon center and earned a shock expression from Nurse Joy as she looked at the clock that was hanging on the wall. She then looked back at us and gave us a confused look as we chuckled in embarrassment.

"I don't understand. You should all be on the next flight to Lumiose City, what are you still doing here?" She asked us.

"Well you see.. Something came up." I said as I scratched the back of my head.

"Yeah, I was actually wondering when the next flight to Hoenn will be." Serena smiled. We all looked at her surprised.

Nurse Joy smiled, "The next flight to Hoenn leaves at 6:00pm. I can print out a ticket for you now if you like." Serena nodded as Nurse Joy printed out a plane ticket for her.

"Hey, Serena, what's up with that? When did you wanna go to Hoenn?" Clemont asked.

"Remember when Palermo asked if she could tutor me to be a Pokemon performer. Well, when I rejected her offer, she suggested I compete in Pokemon contests just like Dawn." Serena said as she looked over at Dawn and smiled.

"But why so soon?" Dawn asked sadly. Serena smiled at her, "it's best to have an early start." She then leaned in towards Dawn's ears and whispered something that I couldn't quite hear.

Dawn jumped back and began blushing a bit while Serena laughed at her. I looked at the both of them confused and then looked over at Dawn. She looked away from me and began playing with her hair. She only did that when she was nervous about something and I assumed it was about me. I then began blushing and looked down at the ground. I could hear Serena laughing at the both of us.

Dawn's POV

"And besides.. It'll be the perfect time for you and Ash to get together. Don't you think?"

I couldn't get what Serena said out of head and just kept on blushing. I didn't wanna look at Ash because I didn't want him to notice. I grabbed Serena's arm as we both walked out of the Pokemon center to look for a place to eat. I looked back to see Ash following behind us with Clemont and Bonnie. I glared at Serena as she let out a small chuckle.

"Serena!" She laughed at my embarrassment and continued walking while I followed her. "It's not funny!" I complained as we both walked into a restaurant and sat down in a booth. Ash and the others walked in and I looked down at the table to avoid eye contact. Apparently, Serena came up with an idea to sit me and Ash together. Ash had sat next to me in the booth while Clemont and Bonnie sat at the other side with Serena.

"Dawn? Everything okay?" Ash asked me. "Fine! Why don't we order something to eat?" I smiled embarrassingly. The waiter came over and gave us our menus then walked back into the kitchen. I looked over the menu and noticed Serena passing glances at me and Ash. She smirked and I blushed as I looked over at Ash who was looking over the menu.

"Hmm.. I can't make a decision. What do you think looks good, Dawn?" Ash said leaning next to me and looking over my menu. I couldn't answer, I stayed silent and kept looking down at the table. "Dawn?" Finally, I looked at him, a blush planted right on my face. It was really noticeable too.
