"Zayn?" I asked again. The dial tone on the phone was the only response I got back. The white car stayed parked in its spot. Someone was moving around in the driver's seat. There was no one in the front seat. There was supposed to be two people showing up, not one.
Louis and his girlfriend. They were supposed to be here. Maybe Louis just didn't let Eleanor sit in the front seat. Zayn had told me that apparently was the 'softest' out of all of them. I didn't believe a word. Zayn was anything but soft. Then again, it made sense if Louis did have his girlfriend in the backseat. People wouldn't be able to see her while they were driving so it could just be a safety thing.
After considering that possibility a bit longer I came to realize that sounded like complete bullshit.
The driver's door opened. The person stepped out of the car with their back facing the window. I watched them walk to the trunk and open it. They lifted out two grocery bags. It was Alec.
I was confused. Louis was supposed to be here not Alec. I stepped out of view of the window so Alec couldn't see me. Why was he here? I hit the redial on the phone hoping Zayn would answer.
It rang four times before he picked up.
"Zayn?"
"Ava? I'm on my way. Don't open the door. I'm five minutes away." He sounded panicky and rushed. I've never heard him like that before.
"It's okay it's just Alec." I told him.
"Alec? Alec's outside?"
"Mhm, he just grabbed two bags of grocery bags out of the trunk. He's walking towards the door right now. I'll let him in."
"Don't open the door, Ava." Zayn said in a threatening tone. I could hear the front door opening.
"Ava?" Ale called from the entrance.
"Zayn he's inside." I whispered.
"Fuck Ava what did you do?! Do you ever fucking li-"
Alec stepped into the foyer room. I hung up the phone quickly.
"Hi." I choked out.
"Come help me with these. You probably know where they go." Alec looked at me with interest. I felt uneasy around him. Zayn has always been with me whenever I've seen Alec.
"Actually, I don't but I'll help."
Alec motioned for me to go ahead of him. I became even more aware to the fact that I was still in Zayn's shirt and boxers. The shirt was big but I felt so exposed being alone with him. Zayn himself had said none of these guys were good news.
"Was that Zayn on the phone?" Alec asked me. I didn't know if I should tell him or not but my big mouth told him for me.
"Yes he's on his way."
"Is that so? Don't you find that odd?" Alec handed me a bag of groceries.
"No." I said flatly. "I was expecting Louis not you." I blurted.
Shit.
Alec raised his eyebrows. He seemed a bit shocked I was talking to him so normally. I had to chill out. I couldn't talk normally to him. None of them for that matter, especially him.
"You know who Louis is?"
I ignored him; pretending I didn't hear his question. Alec let out a frustrated sigh. He sat at the high counter watching me put some items in the cupboards. There was fruit and cereals and a few more things.
