Dedicated to ParanormalParadox for making the cover for my new book, coming out in June!
Emmy flopped back onto her bed letting out a deep sigh. She let her eyes drift around the practically empty space of her bedroom. Most of her favorite things were packed into bags and boxes, for her move to the college the next day. Emmy glanced around nostalgically once again, before sitting up and pulling her hair into a messy bun. She slid down onto her floor beside her dresser to finish deciding what clothes to take and which to leave.
Her bedroom door flew open as far as it could go before a bin, filled with her brand new comforter set, stopped it. Honor slid her body through the narrow space and waded her way through the crowded room to Emmy's side. Honor plopped down beside Emmy peering into the empty box sitting in front of them.
"So what's left?" Honor asked unable to hide the sadness in her tone as she glanced around Emmy's room.
"Just a few more clothes," Emmy replied as she peered into the drawer in front of her.
"Can I have this?" Honor asked her hand pulling a black dress out of the drawer.
Emmy glanced at the dress, it was something she hadn't worn since freshman year, so she nodded, "Yeah take it."
"Cool," Honor replied as the two sisters lapsed into silence.
After just a few minutes with no noise, except the rotating of Emmy's ceiling fan, Honor leaned over and hugged her sister. Emmy returned the hug, squeezing hard realizing that in barely twenty four hours she wouldn't see her little sister everyday. She sighed as she realized she'd have no one to argue with, and no one to give advice to. Emmy knew she would miss her sister more than she would ever let her know.
"I'm going to miss you," Honor whispered into Emmy's bare shoulder, her tears dripping down.
"I'm going to miss you too Honor," Emmy replied as they pulled away from their hug.
Honor wiped away her tears before she jumped up and landed on Emmy's bed smiling mischievously.
Emmy too stood and glanced at her cautiously, "What?"
"Since you'll be gone this is going to be my room, it's so much bigger than mine," Honor said as she spread her arms out across the bed.
Emmy mock frowned, rolling her eyes as she pushed Honor off her bed, "I don't think so little sis."
"Why not?" Honor whined as she climbed back onto the bed next to Emmy.
"Because you didn't ask you demanded," Emmy said laughing at the outraged look on Honor's face.
"Don't be a bitch," Honor said kicking Emmy in the shin.
"Hey!" Emmy exclaimed as she gently rubbed her leg.
Honor stuck her tongue out at her, "That's what you get for not giving me my room."
Emmy rolled her eyes at her, "It's my room, Honor."
"We'll see, I'm going to ask mom about it," Honor snapped as she stood up matching towards the door.
"Yeah you do that," Emmy called out after her.
"I will!" Honor shouted as her footsteps led down the hall to their mother's room.
Emmy shook her head, thinking maybe she shouldn't miss Honor all that much. She sat up and emptied the last drawer she had into a box. Emmy grabbed her light blue duck tape from the table and closed the box. Just as she was about to label it, her mother called out her name.
Emmy stood to her feet, not believing that Honor had really gone to their mom, about her room. She jogged down the hall to her mother's room, standing in the open doorway. Honor sat on the bed next to their mother, giving her a smug look.
