The shouting was deafening. As I had requested, every single pack member squeezed into the pack house and where currently demanding that some action be taken.
And as usual, I was expected to pull a miracle out of my butt.
I was standing at the top of the staircase because it was standing room only in the humongous house. I felt a bit like the pope or something with all those people staring at me fixedly from below. I wanted to present the solution to them but they wouldn't shut up long enough for me to say a single word. I rubbed my forehead in frustration and thought about just leaving and having them find their own solution.
Let's see them create a miracle.
Just stay calm. If you tell them to shut up, they will. Just remind them who you are and that you cannot be pushed around at their whim, Dean calmly advised me.
With that in mind, I opened my mouth, completely fed up.
“Shut up!” I had to shout as loud as my voice could stand. To my complete surprise, my voice cut through the noise easily.
Dean cut me a mildly disapproving look. I don't think that's what he had in mind but I didn't care. He's had years of experience and an unending amount of patience.
That's because he was trained to be alpha. I was not.
I was a teen who was completely pushed beyond the limit. And I've always had a bad temper. Goddess knows why I had alpha blood.
Oh well, she actually did know. But she wasn't what I expected her to be and I didn't want to ever meet her again. Not before my time on earth is done.
But that's beside the point.
“Now listen here. I know that you are hoping that I'd have all the answers to our problems. And I know that you've been worried about the hunters, which is our biggest problem right now. You probably also know how dismal things look with finding a new property to purchase” here I paused. I must have that alpha stroke for the dramatic.
Or maybe I was just a sadist.
Several pack members whimpered and some were even crying. A new ache in my heart throbbed, seeing my pack so distressed.
Okay, maybe I wasn't such a sadist.
“Alpha Dean has presented us with a solution. As many of you know, the Moonstone pack has lost a great many of it's members and can no longer afford to keep it's property with all it's utilities” my voice echoed in the silence that my pack presented me with. Dean stood at my side, a steady and calming presence. I could tell that at least of the pack was reassured by him. He just exhaled safety.
I knew all too well how they felt. Perhaps one day I'd even have that same effect on my own pack. For now, I was still an immature teen.
But hey. At least my headache was easing up.
“Well, we will move to their land and help them financially. In return, they will provide us all with shelter until we can build new homes to replace the ones that were lost in the fire. Pack up. We will be leaving in two days. Take only what is necessary. When we arrive on their land, you will pick a roommate” as I spoke, an outbreak of activity broke out.
All at once, the shouting began again.
My headache returned with a vengeance.
“I don't mind answering your questions but go one at a time, please!” I said sharply. Immediately, the chatter quieted down.
