Do you know who the one and only person is that is able run as fast as an alpha? It isn't a priestess. Not even creepy ones that can control the growth of flowers.
No, it's another alpha. That's it. It's a short list, I know.
I just hated that he was able to catch up to me so easily when I wasn't anywhere near ready to see him. It just made me wonder if he had some sort of funky power.
Which one was it? What natural power did he have control over?
Unnatural. Unnatural. Wolves aren't supposed to have that much power.
I didn't know how I would deal with it. I just knew that he had me in his arms, murmuring apologies. I hadn't even realized that I had been caught.
Did the priestess call him? Did she tell him that I was on the brink of passing out? That I was about to completely lose it because I've learned, rather horribly, that fairy tales are true?
Cause that isn't true. Not at all. I was handling it well, I think, comparatively.
Of course, that's a lie.
I wasn't handling it well.
“Let me go!” I bellowed, easily slipping out of his grasp. Any other time, I'd marvel at the fact that I broke his hold so easily. Right then, I didn't care.
I heard him curse behind me as he started to run after me again.
“Can you just let me explain?!” he yelled, sounding out of breath. I only ran faster, that was going to be his one and only answer.
Suddenly, the earth tilted and I tripped, landing flat on my ass.
You know, I know that I'm all traumatized and all but that just isn't fair.
“You can control the earth” I breathed, scrambling away from him. He cursed himself under his breath. I could hear it clearly.
“I'm sorry. I lost my control” he apologized, holding out a hand to help me up.
I eyed it with distrust.
“Can you please let me explain?” he asked, begged really.
I wasn't sure what I was doing. I wasn't sure of much anymore. All the different myths swirled around in my head, making me frantic with fright.
I couldn't believe that the packs have all coexisted peacefully for so long. When there were packs who could control the weather, who breathed lethal poison at a thought, how haven't we killed each other off by now? How?
“I'm sorry I didn't tell you but you wouldn't have believed me. I only regret that you learned of this from someone else. That was my mistake” he spoke softly, calmly. The voice of reason, of reliability and just an undertone of genuine remorse.
