We both woke up curled around our girl about three days since she's been in heat. She was still sound asleep when I woke up, her head on his shoulder, leg thrown over his waist. I was holding her tightly, my head was snug on her pillow. The Alpha was asleep too and I gotta say, he snored like a bear! I don't know how I could've even fallen asleep with that booming noise in the room. I must've been too exhausted to even notice. Lottie had worn us both out.

“Are you awake?” a deep voice asked. I looked over to the Alpha. He was trying to untangle himself from Lottie's sleepy grip but not having much success.

“Yeah” I yawned.

“Wanna get something to eat?” he asked, finally able to free himself. I nodded.

“Sure. I'll cook” I sat up carefully and gave Lottie a peck on her forehead, smoothing her hair back. She looked like an angel.

“What do you want to eat?” I asked him, looking through the fridge. He shrugged.

“I don't care” he said, sitting down at the table. Whatever than. I pulled out the stuff for a classic breakfast; pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, and orange juice.

“Want to make the toast?” I made it a request. He nodded.

“Sure” we worked in silence, moving around Lottie's kitchen without nary a whisper between us. I didn't like him, in fact I think I hated him. But Lottie trusted him and he was an Alpha, my inner wolf just instinctively trusted as well. On the other hand, he obviously liked Lottie and I couldn't tolerate that. I loved her. I would have her, even if it meant leaving the pack to be able to live together without 'Dean'.

But than there was the fact that he handled her with the utmost care, treating her as if she were made of glass. I liked that much from him but that was about it. If I couldn't be with Lottie, I guess this guy is who I'd choose for her. But that was never going to happen.

“When did you know?” he asked suddenly. I jumped, taken by surprise.

“When did I know what?” I asked carefully.

“When did you know you were in love with her?” he elaborated. I slowly put down the knife I was using to cut peppers for an omelet. It was my baby craving this morning.

“Why?” I asked suspiciously. There was something I didn't like about this conversation.

“No reason” he shrugged, not looking in the least suspicious. Either this guy was a hell of an actor or there really wasn't a reason.

“Yeah right. Hollywood is missing an actor in you” I muttered. He shot me a smile.

“Why thank you. I was thinking of trying to make it as a starlet. I'm glad you think I'm good enough” he said sarcastically.

“Yeah” I quickly mixed the eggs with peppers, onions, and pieces of ham.

“You never answered” he probed.

“Maybe there's a reason for that, nosy” I dropped the mixture into a pan and heard the almost instant sizzle.

“Answer” he wasn't asking anymore. I sighed and thought about it.

“I don't know. I guess it was just an instant thing, you know? I saw her for the first time, we were only kids, and I just knew. She is the only girl for me and every year that passes only makes the feelings stronger” I said honestly. He seemed to consider my words.
