CHAPTER  22

PRESENT  TIMES

Raghav  sat  rocking   little  sanjana....back  and  forth.....it was  8  years  since  that   fatefull night.........brushing  aside  his  tears of  pain  and  hurt.....Raghav    .suddenly   grabbed   his   Daughters's  hand
''Let's  go  and check  on  the  little  present  i  brought  for  you  pumpkin......
Sanjana   ..... 7  years  old....so  full  of  life   and  cheer..........giggled as she   ran  out  of  the room  with  her  daddy'''''
there was a small  basket  at  the  corner  of    Sanjana.s  small  table.......
"what  is  it  daddy......Sanjana  ran  round  it
Go  on  open  it....Raghav  laughed  as  Sanjana   knelt  on  the  floor  and  slowly  opened  the  lid  of  the  basket''
''Oh  my  god  daddy,..it is  a puppy....it  is  a  puppy...''...Sanjana  gently  lifted  the  puppy  and  stroked  it's  head...then  she  burst  out  crying  and  ran  to  hug  her  Daddy......''oh   Daddy  you  are  so  good...i  love  you  daddy.....she  clung  to  Raghav..her  small arms   wound  round  his  neck'
''  Pumpkin.....you  have to be   very  gentle   with  puppy  now......it   was  run  over  by  a car....Raghav   said  and  then  whipered..''by  Grandmother's  car
'how  mean.......Sanjana  blurted  out....then  she  stopped  herself......sorry  daddy....i  should  not  have  said  that.....''
'daddy is  not  angry........sweetie,'',,Raghav   knelt    on the floor  and  gave   his  daughter a  hug,,,,while  krish  looked  on......she  was  so  much  like  her  sweet  mother,........Raghav  looked  up  suddenly  and  caught  Krish  looking  at  him
''life  has  to  go  on  Krish'''...Raghav  left  the  room  immediately.......Krish  knew    Raghav  was    trying  to  hide  his  pain........
Sanjana   fell in  love  with  the  puppy  at  once.........cuddling  it , she  sat  on  her  favourite   sofa  and   played  with  the puppy....
Rubina  walked in at  that precise  moment  and  glared  at  the  puppy  
"what  is  the  meaning  of  this   Sanjana".....Rubina's  voice  made  Sanjana  jump  from  her  seat...thus  caused  the  puppy  to  be  alarmed
Raghav  came  to  the  rescue'''your  chaeuffer   ran  over  the  puppy  remember............Mother..'  ...krish  and  I  nursed  it  back  to  health and  this  puppy  belongs  to  Sanjana...
Rubina  did  not  utter  another  word.......now  she  has  to  tolerate  another  of  Raghav's  tantrum......he  was  giving  too much  freedom  to  his  child.........
Raghav  went  to  his  daughter  and  took  the  puppy  from  her....''time  for  puppy  to  have  his   sleep......Sanjana......tomorrow  we  will  choose  a  nice  name  for  your  puppy.
sure  daddy....Sanjana  linked her  hand   in  her  Daddy's  and  together  father  and  daughter   left  the room..
Rubina   watched  with  malice.......this  expression  was  witnessed  by  Krish........standing  behind  a  huge  cabinet.....
Raghav  handed the  puppy  to  his  loyal  chaeuffer,....and  instructed  him......to   bring  the  puppy  in  everday  to  let  Sanjana  spend time  with  it
Raghav  then  left  for  work........he  still  carried  on  with  what  he  and  Kalpana  had  built......Raghav   attended  meetings  for  Rubina  and  his  own  company'..he  lived  and  worked  only  for  his  child.....kalpana's   gift  to  him  to  cherish.......the  bitterness  of  loosing  her  was  so  severe  for  so many  years but  as  his  child  grew  up.....her  looks.....consoled  him..she  had  inherited     Kalpana's  soft  looks    and  many  times   Raghav  had  felt  that  he  was  actually  looking  at  his  Kalpana....all  his   attention  was  focused  on  bringing  up  his  daughter  well.........and  Raghav  was  sure  kalpana  was  watching  over  her  child......
Sanjana  was  so  attached  to  her  father.........a  little  happy  child
Meanwhile  in  Hydrebhad ,,Sunil Gupta   was   busy  working,.........his  brother  was  coming  to  audit.........and  he  was  trying  to  catch  up  everthing  as  fast  as  possible.......he   knew  Raghav  will not  tolerate  nonsense...........Raghav  had  become  bitter  and  harsh  through the  years  after  the  lost  of  his  wife.....  ....Sunil  Gupta   had  never  known  or  met  his  late  sister in  law....he  had  been  too  busy  with  his  college  days  and  later  his  gratuation.......that   Rubina  Gupta   had   thought   Raghav.s  marriage  to  Kalpana  was  a  trivial   matter.....
Sunil  Gupta  got  his  secretary  and  junior  assitants......to  get  things  done........he  drove  them  up  the  wall  especially  the  very  beautiful  Reshma Raj.....he  had  his  eyes  on  her.....since  she  had  started  working  for  KD SOFT  TOYS  .....it  was established  by  Raghav himself  on  a  lot....a  gift  from  his  brother's  in  laws.......or  something   like  that.....Sunil  Gupta  had  no  time  to  go into  details....'Miss  Raj.......can  you  please  bring  me  hot  coffee........'' and   i  need  some  flowers  in  right  away.......the  boss  likes  fresh  flowers  everywhere...
"yes   sir...........replied  Reshma   curtly  and  went  about  doing  his  bidding....Sunil  Gupta  watched  her  go.....''Oh  God..she  was  so  beautiful  but  she  was  almost as  cold  as  flint.......she  in  so  many  ways   was  like  his  brother..........Sunil  Gupta  wowed  to woo  Reshma  till she  relented.........
It was  almost  noon  when Raghav gupta  arrived  at  KD   SOFT TOYS  ..........he  was  in  his  best  suit  and  looked  as  dashing  as  ever..female  employees  admired  him.....,he  respected  all employess and  treated them well......he  was  a  good  boss  unlike   the  frivalous  and    trigger  happy   younger  brother  Sunil Gupta  who  was appointed   as  Managing Director  by  Raghav  himself...''.Good Afternoon Sir..''..the  employees  greeted  as  Raghav  walked in to  the   office.........Raghav   saw  the  huge  rose bouquete   adorning  the  reception....a  memory  jolted  him  as  he  stood  and  breathed in  a whiff of  the  full bloom roses.......it  was  such a beautiful  sight.....
"That.  sir  is  our  new  juniour  secretary's  work  of  art.....she  is  good...''......accounts  clerk...Shivanne  said...
Raghav  went  through  the  files  swiftly    and  seemed  satisfied  with  Sunil Gupta's  work......Raghav   stretched  his  long  legs   and  leaned  back  on  the  sofa....."'Progressing  well...Sunil.......Just  then  Shivanne  brought in a pot  of  tea..and  placed it  on the  side  table...she  had  even   brought a tray  of scones,........Raghav  was  glad  for   the  refreshing  cup  of  tea,..it  tasted  really  good''
Our  tea  lady   Rani  is  on  leave  sir.....her  child  had  been  admitted  to   the  hospital  for  food  poisoning......i   requested  Miss Raj.to  make  tea.....and  she  obliged'
Rani's   daughter....right "
Raghav' confirmed...
yes,,sir.......replied  Shivanee'
Raghav whipped out  his  wallet  and  took  out a stack  of  notes  and  gave  it  to  Shivanee.......to   give  the  money  to  Rani  ...for  her  hospital   expenses.''she  will be  gratefull  sir....i will    have  the  money  sent  to  her immediatelly.......shivanee summoned  the office  boy   to  go  to  the  hospital at  once  and  give  the  money  to Rani......
Raghav  and  Sunil discussed  about  latest    issues  and  at  almost  5  in the  evening  Raghav  stood  up  straightened  his  tie...picked up  his  brief case  and   slowly  made  his  way  out....his  eyes  fell on  the  roses  once  more........Raghav  closed  his  eyes  for  a  moment  ..so  much  has  happened   in  life  and  today  after  so  long  he  felt  a  kind  of  peace  and  calmness  within  him.........Flowers  do  have  the  great  healing  power.. Raghav  thought..............and  then  he  opened his  eyes... and  walked up  to the reception counter.and  saw  a  girl  walking   towards  the  corridor  leading  to  the  soft toys  production  floor...........
''that  is  Miss Raj  sir..our  new  employee.........she  seemed to  be  very  talented    ....and  she  is  efficient.....''Shivanee  spoke  .standing  behind  Raghav Gupta
''have  a good  weekend  Mrs  Bala.......Raghav  said  and  left  the  office  building........happy  that  Sunil  ...his   brother  had  become  quite  responsible  in  his   work....leading  the  company  towards   more  progresive  ways.......  to  be  continued..........Evelyn
