CHAPTER  30

Reshma   setlled  back   in  her  bed after  she  called  up  Shivanee from accounts  department   to  inform  that  she  was  not  going  to work   that  day.........she  slept   .....till  late  afternoon........and  when  she   woke  up........she  heard  voices.....in  the  hall.........she  quickly showered  and    ran   downstairs.......her  father  was  talking  to  Sunil  Gupta............he  saw  her  and  Reshma  had  no  choice but  to  go  to  her  father
"are  you  sick   miss Raj.........He  asked  
''no  i am  fine   ......replied  Reshma  and  dissappeared  in to  the  kitchen  in  the  pretense   of   making  a drink  for  her   immediate  boss.
Reshma  could  hear  her  father  relating  last  nights  events  to  Sunil  Gupta..........Reshma   peeped  through  the  tiny  window  above  the  refrigerator.....Sunil's  face  was   with  anger......but  he  camouflaged  it  well..and  for   a few  seconds....Reshma  had  felt   she  had  seen   that  kind  of   expression   somewhere........trying  as  hard  as  she  could........she  gave  up  the  idea,,as  her  head   was  begining  to  show  signs  of  impending  pain........it   was  many  years    ago  that  she  was in  constant  pain.....and  she  was  happy  that  she  was  completely  healed  but  lately......she  was  begining  to  experience   pain  again......perhaps  she  was  worrying  too  much  about  her  mother's  health.............Reshma  took  a deep  breath....and  walked  back  to  the  hall with  two  glasess of  fresh  apple  juice.....her  father  was  glad     for  the  cold  juice......Sunil  gupta   took  the  other  glass..and   looked  at  Reshma    intently........Reshma   turned  her  face  away,........she   felt  uneasy  with  Sunil  Gupta  around  but  it was   totally  different  with  his   elder  brother  Raghav  Gupta.......he  was  such  a  kind  soul.....Reshma  seemed  drawn  to  him.........everthing  he  did   .......there  was  kindness  and  patience   and  a  feeling  of   being  in  safe  zone    with  him  around............there  was  something  about   Raghav  Gupta     ....Reshma  wanted to  know  everthing  about  him............she  was  contemplating  ..on  this  matter  but  soon  gave  up,...she  was  an  employee....who  was  now  indebted  to  Raghav  Gupta...he  had  paid  all  the   medicals   for  the  operation  and    nursing  home...and    she  should  behave  herself...and  respect   him
Sunil  gupta      drove  away   a  little  later  and  headed  straight  for  ....  his  penthouse,...........he  poured  himself   a  glass  of   whisky  .......and  drank  it  in  one  go....then  he  had  a few  more  drinks.......".Stay  away  for  Reshma  ,,Raghav........Sunil   shouted  and  smashed  his  fist  on  the  glass  table...............Reshma  is  mine...!....stay  away  .!....just  stay  away...Sunil  had  felt  his  ears  burning  as  Raj  Kishen  had  related  how  Raghav    had  rushed  to  their  home  and   called  up  the  hospital  authorities.....and   that  Mrs   Raj   had  had   heart  surgery  and  out  of  danger......Raghav  gupta  had  paid  for  the  operation..Sunil  wanted  to  punch   Raghav..so  hard,........
Reshma  and  her  father  visited    Sheila  in  the  hospital.......she  was  still under  observation...........she  looked  cheerful..........she  smiled  at  her  husband  and  hugged  Reshma.....who  sat  on  the edge  of  the  bed.....
Mrs  Raj......so  good  to  see you....''...Mr  kishen   told  me   that  you  have  had  heart  operation  and  you  out  of  danger  and  on  the  road  to  recovery.... ......hearing  Sunil  Gupta's  voice........Reshma  became  a little  irritated........he  was  such  a pest........she  began  to  sulk  but  Raj  Kishen   .....gestured  with  his  eyes    to  his  daughter  not  be  rude  to   her  boss
''so  nice  of  you  to  come  sir.........''Reshma  said  politely  and  offered  him  a  chair.........''''these  roses  are  for  you...Mrs  Raj.........Sunil  held  out  a large  bouquet........which  Reshma   took........and  place it  on  the  bed  side  table........there  was  also  a basket of  flowers...............Sunil  stayed  the  whole  morning....in  the  hospital.....when   Raghav  arrived........
"ah  Sunil...........very  kind  of  you  to  visit  Mrs  Raj...........she  will be   moving  in to  the  nursing  home  ....soon.........
Sunil   glared  at  his  brother.........and  his  eyes  became  fixed  on  Reshma's  face......she  was  looking  at  Raghav...
sunil  hated  what  he  saw.......'i  will  put  and  end  to  this..''Sunil  swore  in  his  heart.....

''Sunil    you  do  realise you  have  a  meeting  with  your  business associates  from  Japan..... don't  you.."'   
Raghav  reminded.........Sunil     got  to  his  feet  at  once........'Damn  he  cursed  under  his  breath........it  was  all Raghav's  doing......he  was  so  preocupied  with  Raghv's  thoughts..and   how  he  was  going  to  get  Reshma.....that  he  absouletly  forgot........he     had  not  bothered  to  answer  his  secretary's   Shivanee's  call....and  he  was  in  a tight  spot   ....right  in  front  of  Raghav..." If   you  start  now  you  will reach  Hydrbhad..in   two  hours.......Sunil...''..........Raghav  advised..........Sunil   had  no  other  choice  but  leave,,....he  excused  himself  and   left  and  in   his  chagrin...he  walked  right  into  the  glass door  of  the  hospital's  main  entrance.......he  knocked  his  head  on  the  door    which  left  him  with  a  slight    swelling.........he  ignored  it  and   almost  ran  to  his  car...his  phone  rang
"Yes  Mother...i  am  on  my  way......he    said  rudely...........Damn.....damn..damn..........he  did  not  even  spare  his  mother.......all  he  could  think  of  was   Reshma....
Raghav  spoke  to  doctors   and  was  glad  that Mrs  Raj  was   going  home..........she  responded  well   with  all her  medications.......Raghav   was    glad  that  he  was able  to  help  Mrs  Raj  in  time
"" Reshma   child..........i saw  the  way  your  boss..Sunil  Gupta  look  at  you..i  think  he  really  likes  you''   Sheila  Raj  whispered  close to  Reshma's  ears...
''   Let  him  think  whatever  he  wants.....Mother......i  don't  like  him  in  any  way.....he  gives  me  the creeps.........i  cannot  explain  why  and  what  but  i  just  fear  him........i  don't  want  to  think  of  him....mother  please....my  head  is  starting  to  hurt  again.........i  took  tablets  this  morning......
sheila  raj   sat  up  in  bed........and  drew  Reshma  beside  her.......
''come  sit  with  me  ......sheila    gave  her  hand  to  Reshma..........
''what  are  you  feeling,,Reshma............does  your  head  hurt  badly........."'
"  not  as  bad  as  those  days  mother,,,when  we  were  in   Malaysia..............
''you  worry  to  much  dear  girl........just  relax........and   the  pain  will  go  away..
Raghav   saw    how  Reshma  was   leaning  on  her  mother's   shoulder.........so  like  Kalpana  on  Meena's ............her   guardian........Raghav     had  alreay  planned  to   take  Reshma   to  his  home.......perhaps.....he  might  discover  something  about  Reshma.........how    this  was  going  to  happen.....he  had  no  idea  at  all.........to  be   continued  Evelyn
