CHAPTER 37
Rubina arrived  from  her  meeting  and   found Sunil  .......in  the  hall..watching  Reshma.....play   snakes and  ladders.......good  god. she  .thought...snakes  and  ladders.....really.......it  was  such  an ancient  game.....
'' i  will  be  back  in  two  days,....'  i want  you  to  take care  of   business  Sunil.......she  said
'' i  will..... replied  Sunil..............eyes still on Reshma............he  had  laid  out  his  plan........and  was  waiting  for the  right  moment.......Raghav  was  away  so  there  shouldn't  be  any  problem....so  he  thought......
'' krish   ....was   near  the  door.........looking  out..........
Rubina   came  downstairs.....a  maid  behind  her........carrying  her  luggage,
   after  she  left  the  house.....Sunil  stretched  and  went  up  to  his  room,........Krish   watched  him   go.....he   checked  on  all the  doors  and  windows .....took  a  cup  of  tea   for himself..when  his  phone  rang,,,,
"'hello.........was  the  only  word   that  Krish  spoke......when  something  hard  landed on his  head.......before  he  closed  his  eyes...  Krish  saw  Sunil's  face  ....he  was  laughing''
Reshma.....wondered  what  took  krish  so long.   , even  the  maids  were  not  to  be seen......she   slowly  peeped  outside  Sanjana's  room.....there  was  no  sign  of  anyone.....holding  the  little  girl's  hand.....she  walked  out  slowly......it  was then  she  saw  krish  staggering  at  the  foot  of  the  stairs,,, the  side  of  his  face....covered  in  blood,,,
'' run   Reshma..quick.......hide...Sunil  is  coming  for  you...go  '  hurry.,,,take  baby  with  you,,,..Reshma  was  in  a state  of  shock..........
mummy  ,mummy.....uncle  krish  is  hurt.......Sanjana  began  to  cry....
'' shhhh...''.....Reshma  hushed  Sanjana....and  froze  when she  saw  Sunil..hit  Krish....and  dragged  him  to  the  kitchen..........
Reshma   felt  her  body  shiver......she  held  onto  Sanjana  and  ran  back  to  Sanjana's  room,,,,it  was  too  late... Sunil  was   coming  upstairs.....'' Sanjana......tugged  at    Reshma's  skirt.....'' ...mummy   mummy..........daddy's  room.........she  said  almost  in  a whisper......she  knew  something  was  wrong
'' Reshma   hurried  outside   and  remembered....the  keys  in  her  pocket......she   took  it  and  raced  to   Raghav' Gupta's  room  and  unlocked  it   ,,, pushing  sanjana quickly  into  it  and   locked  the  room  and   hid  behind  the  bed..the  room  was  dark,,,,, Reshma  fumbled  in the  dark........hit  her  foot  on the  bed   ......and  winced  in  pain..........'' mummy....are  you  hurt...Sanjana  whispered.....and  hugged  Reshma....
there  was  a heavy  thud  on  the door.......Reshma   moved  further  down  under  the  bed.......her   feet  accidently  touched  the  side  table   lamp switch.........the  wires  entangled  on her  toes..and  pushed  the  lamp  off the  table......causing  it  to  fall  and  rock  back  and  forth... ..the  light  showed  a  huge  photo  on  the  wall..'' the  photo  of  a girl  ..whose  face  was illuminated  by   candles..
Reshma....stared  at  it....both  her  hands  cupped  her  own  face...from  under  the  bed.............''..the  door  swung  open.....suddenly  causing   Reshma  to  move  back...the  lamp  rocking  on  the  floor  got  stuck.......and  the  room was  plunged  in  darkness..''
'' a  hand  grabbed  hers  and  dragged  her  out......' 
"'ah  come  my  sweet.....Sunil  rasped  and  pulled  Reshma  towards  him...
"' let  me  go......Reshma  screamed... Sanjan  began  to  cry.......
Come.........''  Sunil  dragged  a  frightened   Reshma  to  the  front  door..a  land rover  was  parked  outside......... Sunil  tied   Reshma's  hand  and  carried  her  and   dumped  her  into  the  back  of  the  land  rover.....''
'' mummy.....mummy...screamed  Sanjana........Sunil  was  like  a mad  man....he  shoved  Sanjana  away  from  him...and    jumped into  the  land rover  and  drove  away.......
Sanjana  fell  ....on  the  drive way....but  managed  to  run  into  the  house.....to  the  kitchen....she  had  witnessed  the  horrific   deed  of  her  Uncle  Sunil........dragging  Krish  after  hitting  him..'
"' uncle  krish..uncle  krish.........''  she  cried  but  there  was  no answer  from  him.... Sanjana   sat  on  the  floor  beside....The  motionless krish..

Raghav  drove  like  mad   to  the  house ..followed  by  Raj kishen  and  sheila............the  cut  on  the his  head  was quite  deep......it  bled  on  but  Raghav couldn't   care  less  about  it..as  he  drove,,he could  think  only  of  kalpana...'
the  car  stopped  with  a  screetch....

..... Raghav  rushed  out..'' kalpana.....'' kalpana......where  are  you.? .Raghav  ran  to  the  dining  room....no  one  was  there........'' kalpana... he  called  out ...Raghav  rushed  out  to  the  hall.....''  kalpana...........''''Krish.... Raghav  called  out...Krish  had  answered  his phone
call  but  the  line  got  cut  off  with  just  a hello........
" Krish.......'     where  was  everyone..?.. Raghav   was  about  to  go  upstairs.....when  he  spotted  blood  on  the  floor,......it  was still  fresh...he  followed   the  trail  of  blood  and  to  his  horror  he  found  his  faithfull  chaeuffer  and  friend  lying  in  a  pool  of  blood  and  his  daughter 
Sanjana....huddled  beside krish....' Sanjana  looked  up  and  cried  and  Raghav  rushed  to  her''
Daddy  daddy.....uncle  Sunil  is  bad,,he  hit  uncle  krish  and  took  mummy  away...
Raghav  hugged  Sanjana  as  she  wept,,.. ''  i  will  kill  you  Sunil.....Raghav   was  mad  with  anger...''
Raghav  sir...........is  everthing  ok.......Raj  kishen  asked......''
'' No  "' ... call  the  ambulance  and  the  police...''Raghav  shouted..and  knelt  on  the  floor  and  checked  Krish's  Pulse......it  was   beating..Krish  was  alive  but  bleeding......
'' Sheila  was   shaken  by  what  she  saw.....''  Raj  Kishen  told  her  gently  to  look  for  the  servants........ sheila  got  to  her feet  and  searched  and
found  the  servants  all tied up...they  looked  as  though  they  had   been  drugged  .........Raghav  rushed  to  the  storeroom  and  helped  to  untie  the  servants....and  went  out  to  the  back yard,,the  night  guard  and  security  personnel  suffered  the  same  fate..they  were  all drowsy.......'' within  the  next  half  hour.....the  police  arrived  ......the  paramedics  treated....the  servants..and   got  krish  onto  the  stretcher  and    got  him  into  the  ambulance''
''  krish  opened  his  eyes.....''for  a  few  minutes and  saw Raghav
' ' I am  sorry  Raghav  sir  i  couldn't   protect  Miss  Reshma....he   said  with  difficulty....and  held   Raghav's  hand''
"Kalpana  ..krish,,she  is  kalpana....,,''     Raghav  rasped......krish  smilled   weakly through  his  pain,,then closed  his   eyes.....the  ambulance  drove  away   ...  the  siren  ....causing  a stir  among  the  residents  close  by......
Rubina  who  was on  her  way  to  the  airport  stopped  the  car  and told  the  driver  to  turn  back  and  follow  the  red  landrover  speeding  on  the right  lane...... Rubina  thought  she  had seen   Reshma   in  the  landrover  driven  by  her  son Sunil''  what  are  you  up to  Sunil  ? ..i  will  put  an..  end  to  everthing  tonight  Sunil.'.....thought  Rubina..she  had  hated  kalpana  and  now  this  Reshma   who  looked  like  kalpana   has  come  to  disrupt  her  life..once  again.............'' driver  faster  ''  Rubina  instructed her  driver  and   searched  under  her  seat,,,,the  gun  was  loaded.....
Raghav  made  sure.....police  were  in  the  house,,,,,for  protection....leaving   sanjana  in   Raj  Kishen  and  his  wife's   care  in   his  mother's  house.......   Raghav  left  in  a hurry..with  police  patrol..following  him.........he  tried  to  think  hard..on  where  Sunil  could  have  abducted  kalpana  to...........tears  began  to  fall............
